SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes overcame two interceptions to deliver a few big plays with his feet and the Kansas City Chiefs remained the league's only undefeated team, beating the San Francisco 49ers 28-18 Sunday in a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/49ers-chiefs-rematch-f22d71e88b568caf3792b782e48517e1">Super Bowl rematch</a>.

The stakes and the quality of play weren't at the same level as eight months ago when Mahomes and the Chiefs (6-0) beat the 49ers (3-4)&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-2024-score-chiefs-49ers-49b5dca51c05ab0f259cef0d7da76c2d">25-22 in overtime</a>&nbsp;for their Super Bowl title in five seasons.

But the result was the same with Kansas City winning its fifth straight over San Francisco, including two Super Bowls.

The game came with a potentially heavy price for San Francisco with&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/49ers-ricky-pearsall-return-7889bafdf22f93f7ae2620812c30f131">star receiver Brandon Aiyuk</a>&nbsp;getting carted off after getting hit on his right knee while making a catch late in the first half. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury.

Aiyuk's absence proved crucial during a key point late in the third quarter when the 49ers were driving with a chance to erase a 14-12 deficit.

A miscommunication between backup receiver Ronnie Bell and Brock Purdy led to an interception by Chris Roland-Wallace. The Chiefs then turned that into a touchdown thanks in part to a 33-yard scramble by Mahomes that was his longest regular-season run ever.

Mahomes then scored on a 1-yard scramble on fourth-and-goal for his first rushing touchdown since the 2022 season.

That was one of four TD runs on the day for Kansas City, with Kareem Hunt getting two in the first half and Mecole Hardman icing it with an 18-yarder in the fourth quarter. It was just the second time Kansas City ran for four TDs in a game started by Mahomes, with the other coming in the 2018 divisional playoff round against Indianapolis.

Mahomes finished 16 for 27 for 154 yards and has eight interceptions and six passing touchdowns this season. But that has been enough for Kansas City to become the 10th defending Super Bowl champion to start the following season with six straight wins.

Purdy wasn't much better as the defenses had the better of this game. He went 17 for 31 for 212 yards with two TD runs and three interceptions. His third pick came in the end zone midway through the fourth quarter with San Francisco trying to mount a comeback.

Niners rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall made his debut exactly&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/49ers-ricky-pearsall-return-7889bafdf22f93f7ae2620812c30f131">50 days after being shot</a>&nbsp;in the chest during a robbery attempt in San Francisco. Pearsall was activated from the non-football injury list and came in for his first play on San Francisco’s opening drive. He caught his first career pass late in the second quarter.

His presence was needed since San Francisco played the second half without its top three receivers. Jauan Jennings missed the game with a hip injury, Deebo Samuel played only four plays because of an illness, and Aiyuk got hurt late in the first half.

Chiefs: WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) left in the first half. ... CB Jaylen Watson (ankle) left in the second half.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — No. 17 Kansas State knew that West Virginia would try to shut down Big 12 rushing leader DJ Giddens, and that enabled quarterback Avery Johnson to put together a career game.

Johnson threw three touchdown passes in the Wildcats' 45-18 win over West Virginia on Saturday night, and Kansas State (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) is off to its best start since 2014.

Giddens scored on runs of 1 and 18 yards but was held to a season-low 57 yards, 74 below his average. Johnson picked apart West Virginia's injury-depleted secondary, finishing 19 of 29 for a career-high 298 yards.

"Avery's progress as a passer has been phenomenal, and today he was so poised," Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. "The kid's calm. He's patient. And he understands things and he liked our game plan. He's not getting antsy in the pocket. He's staying in there and it's fun to see, especially when we were struggling to rush the football."

Johnson slipped from the grasp of West Virginia defensive lineman Sean Martin and threw an 11-yard pass to Ty Bowman on fourth down to keep a third-quarter drive alive that ended with Johnson finding Garrett Oakley for a 16-yard score.

On Kansas State's next series, Johnson and Giddens combined on a 53-yard pass play to the West Virginia 1, and Johnson hit tight end Will Anciaux in the end zone for a 31-10 lead, sending Mountaineer fans streaming for the exits.

Giddens was coming off back-to-back games of at least 182 yards.

"West Virginia had to respect that and they loaded the box tonight and said 'DJ wasn't going to beat us,'" Johnson said. "And our receivers and tight ends stepped up and made big plays for me."

Johnson also credited his coaches for putting together a scheme to find holes in the West Virginia defense, and "it was just me going through progressions and exploiting those."

The Mountaineers (3-4, 2-2) lost their third game at home and fell to a ranked opponent for the ninth consecutive time.

West Virginia's Garrett Greene threw two interceptions that led to touchdowns for the second straight week. Marques Sigle stepped in front of a pass and returned it 43 yards for a score to put the Wildcats ahead 17-3 early in the second quarter.

Greene finished 9 of 19 for 85 yards and one TD along with the two interceptions. The Big 12's top rushing quarterback had 89 yards on the ground. But Greene, West Virginia running back Jahiem White and offensive lineman Wyatt Milum did not play in the second half. Coach Neal Brown said after the game he believed four players sustained head injuries but didn't link them to anyone specific.

"We've got a beat-up locker room, probably the most injuries I can remember in a first half," Brown said.

West Virginia was limited to 63 total yards in the second half.

Backup quarterback Nicco Marchiol went 6 of 13 for 58 yards and a touchdown in Greene's absence.

Kansas State: The Wildcats adapted on offense after West Virginia shut down Giddens from the start. Johnson, who also had a 60-yard TD pass in the first quarter to Jadon Jackson in blown coverage, had eight completions of at least 15 yards.

West Virginia: The Mountaineers are 34-33 under Brown, their sixth-year coach. That's on pace to be the worst six-year stretch under one coach at West Virginia since Gene Corum went 29-30 from 1960-65.

Kansas State could move up a few spots in the AP Top 25 poll after the convincing win.

Johnson throws for 3 TDs, Kansas State beats West Virginia 45-18

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Jalon Daniels had three passing touchdowns, plus one on the ground, as Kansas broke a five-game losing streak with a 42-14 victory over Houston on Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Cobee Bryant tied a Kansas record, set by Bill Crank in 1958, with three interceptions.

The game marked Kansas' 112th Homecoming, though it wasn't played in-state because of reconstruction of KU's home stadium.

Daniels was 16-of-21 passing for 247 yards for Kansas (2-5, 1-3 Big 12).

Donovan Smith went 15 of 24 through the air for 173 yards, with two touchdowns and three picks for Houston (2-5, 1-3 Big 12).

After a scoreless third quarter, Daniels' 8-yard touchdown put Kansas up 35-14 early in the fourth. Devin Neal scored his second touchdown for Kansas' final points.

Kansas scored touchdowns on its first four drives to assume control.

KU took the opening kickoff and marched on a 15-play drive that took nearly 9 minutes to take an early 7-0 lead. The Jayhawks converted a fourth-and-1 at the Houston 4-yard line before Daniels hit Jared Casey on a 2-yard touchdown pass.

On the first play following an interception by Bryant, Daniels hit Quentin Skinner with a 48-yard bomb to extend the lead. On its third drive, KU went 84 yards on six plays, capped by a 2-yard run by Neal.

Houston finally got on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter when Smith hit Stacy Sneed on a screen and Sneed ran untouched for a 23-yard score.

Daniels' third touchdown pass was a 3-yard strike to Casey to give Kansas a 28-7 lead. Smith hit Mekhi Mews on a 52-yard catch-and-run right before halftime.

Kansas: The Jayhawks badly needed this victory to reach a third straight bowl game for the first time in program history. With games against No. 17 Kansas State, No. 9 Iowa State and No. 13 BYU in the next three games, they can afford just one more loss and achieve bowl eligibility.

Kansas: The Jayhawks travel to in-state rival Kansas State Oct. 26.

At Saturday's Western Athletic Conference Championships in Garden City, the ninth-ranked Lady Panthers needed to beat three of four opponents to surpass that mark. With a come-from-behind win against Garden City in the late match, Great Bend pushed its win streak to 25 games and bumped the new school record for wins in a season to 33.

The Lady Panthers opened the day with a 25-15, 25-20 win against Liberal, then reached 31 wins with a 25-17, 25-16 win against Dodge City. Fittingly, the 2024 squad set the new school record and secured the WAC title with a 25-20, 25-21 win over Hays. Garden City took set one of the final match 25-19 before Great Bend rebounded to win the final two sets 25-21, 25-14.

Great Bend moves to 33-2 on on the season and will host a Class 5A substate next Saturday.

Pushing 25: Lady Panthers reset school record for wins, claim WAC title

Last fall, Wichita Collegiate doubled up the Class 3-2-1A girls' field to win its 15th-straight state tennis title. Ellsworth finished two points from a third-place trophy. This year the competition was much tighter in Wichita. Collegiate won its 16th title with 38 points, but the Lady Bearcats return home with the second-place trophy after scoring 33 points. Marysville finished third with 26 points.

For a second-straight season, Ellsworth's doubles team of junior Inarie Rippert and sophomore Reygan Coonrod advanced to the state championship match. This year, the girls took with them a perfect record before falling to Collegiate's three-time champions 6-2, 6-0. Senior Elena Jundt and junior Felis De La Cruz finished 11th in the doubles bracket this year.

Sterling junior Chelsie Brown capped a perfect season with the singles title with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Kansas City Christian senior Lauren Seitz Saturday. Brown defeated St. John senior Camila Sanchez-Rojas 6-3, 6-4 in Friday's semifinal round. Sanchez-Rojas rebounded to beat Collegiate 6-1, 6-3 to secure third place.

Sanchez-Rojas defeated Ellsworth sophomore Karli Haase 6-4, 6-2 in Friday's quarterfinals. On the back side, Haase beat teammate Hannah Vague 8-3, defeated Marysville 8-1, and blanked Kingman 8-0 in the fifth-place match. Vague went on to beat Sabetha 8-4 but lost an 8-1 match against Marysville in the ninth-place match.

Central Plains' senior duo of Grace Lamatsch and Ryann Metro dropped an 8-3 set to Marysville in the seventh-place match. Hoisington senior Reese Merlau fell to Sabetha 8-5 in the 11th-place match.

Ellsworth finished two points from a third-place trophy. This year the competition was much tighter in Wichita. Collegiate won its 16th title with 38 points, but the Lady Bearcats return home with the second-place trophy after scoring 33 points. Marysville finished third with 26 points.For a second-straight season, Ellsworth's doubles team of junior Inarie Rippert and sophomore Reygan Coonrod advanced to the state championship match. This year, the girls took with them a perfect record before falling to Collegiate's three-time champions 6-2, 6-0. Senior Elena Jundt and junior Felis De La Cruz finished 11th in the doubles bracket this year.Sterling junior Chelsie Brown capped a perfect season with the singles title with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Kansas City Christian senior Lauren Seitz Saturday. Brown defeated St. John senior Camila Sanchez-Rojas 6-3, 6-4 in Friday's semifinal round. Sanchez-Rojas rebounded to beat Collegiate 6-1, 6-3 to secure third place.<a href="https://greatbendpost.com/posts/9431babb-fa80-4685-be7e-beace4eb5f55">READ MORE: DAY ONE STATE TENNIS RESULTS</a>Sanchez-Rojas defeated Ellsworth sophomore Karli Haase 6-4, 6-2 in Friday's quarterfinals. On the back side, Haase beat teammate Hannah Vague 8-3, defeated Marysville 8-1, and blanked Kingman 8-0 in the fifth-place match. Vague went on to beat Sabetha 8-4 but lost an 8-1 match against Marysville in the ninth-place match.Central Plains' senior duo of Grace Lamatsch and Ryann Metro dropped an 8-3 set to Marysville in the seventh-place match. Hoisington senior Reese Merlau fell to Sabetha 8-5 in the 11th-place match.

Ellsworth girls are state tennis runners-up; St. John's Sanchez-Rojas third

Area tennis players are competing at their respective state tournaments in Andover and Wichita Friday and Saturday. Below are results from day one.

At the Class 5A state meet in Andover, Great Bend sophomore Paige Stacey made an early exit after dropping her first two matches. A win in round one would have pitted Stacey against Andover's No. 1 seed in senior Molly Gaddis. Instead, the No. 17 seed Stacey dropped a 6-1, 6-0 to senior Aleaha Schwinn, the No. 16 seed from Spring Hill. Stacey lost an 8-1 match to No. 12 seed Kali Keough of Emporia on the back side.

Ellsworth's doubles team of junior Inarie Rippert and sophomore Reygan Coonrod remain unbeaten with a trip to the state semifinals at the Class 3-2-1A state tournament in Wichita. As the No. 2 seed, the girls defeated Cimarron 6-0, 6-0, then had the tough task of handing teammates Felis De La Cruz and Elena Jundt a 6-2, 6-0 loss. Coonrod and Rippert will play Hesston's No. 6 seed in Saturday's semifinal.

Hesston's squad knocked off Central Plains' No. 3 seed of senior Grace Lamatsch and Ryann Metro 7-6(3), 6-2 to reach the semifinals. Central Plains will open Saturday against Marysville. Ellsworth's De La Cruz and Jundt downed Ellinwood seniors Grace Sturtz and Mahra Johnston 6-3, 6-3 in round two. Ellinwood later lost an 8-3 match against Meade. De La Cruz and Jundt play Wichita Classical on Saturday.

Singles players are alive and well in the Class 3-2-1A bracket in Wichita. Sterling junior Chelsie Brown, coached by former Central Plains High School standout Janae Ryan, entered the bracket as the No. 1 seed with a perfect 32-0 record. She won a pair of matches Friday to advance to Saturday's state semifinals.

St. John senior Camila Sanchez-Rojas will play Brown in Saturday's semifinal round. As the No. 5 seed, Sanchez-Rojas knocked off the No. 21 seed from Collegiate 6-1, 6-1, then defeated No. 4 seed Karli Haase of Ellsworth 6-4, 6-2 in the quarters.

Hoisington senior Reese Merlau entered the bracket as the No. 16 seed with a 6-5, 6-3, win against the No. 17 seed from Hutchinson Trinity. Brown defeated Merlau 6-0, 6-0. Merlau continued her state run with an 8-2 win against teammate Claire Crutcher, then advanced with a win by injury default. The senior Crutcher entered as the No. 12 seed and lost a 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 battle against Collegiate to drop to the back side of the bracket.

Ellsworth's two single players also remain alive but are doomed to play one another to open Saturday's action. After a 6-2, 6-2 win against Marysville, Haase lost just her second match of the season to St. John's Sanchez-Rojas. Sophomore Hannah Vague, playing as the No. 19 seed, promptly upset No. 14 seed Danika Bingle of Sterling 6-3, 6-1, but dropped her next match to Kansas City Christian's No. 3 seed senior Lauren Seitz 6-2, 6-1. Great Bend High School's Class of '25 had yet to beat Hays on the gridiron. Other than a 28-27 loss at Hays last year, the Panthers were 0-4 and had been outscored 127-21 in the three meetings before 2023. All that changed Friday night at Memorial Field as Great Bend's defense dominated in a 21-0 win.

"It feels awesome for these seniors," said junior quarterback Daxton Minton, who threw for a touchdown and rushed for another. "These seniors haven't beat them in (four) years. It feels good to get them a win on Senior Night."

After netting just 26 yards on 15 attempts in the first two quarters, Great Bend piled up 174 yards on 17 carries in the second half. Minton busted free on runs of 12 and 22 yards to work the ball near midfield late in the third quarter. Junior Ian Premer took the next handoff 49 yards to give the Panthers a 14-0 lead with 1:30 to play in the third.

"We just made some adjustments on our blocking schemes and that helped a lot," Minton said. "Our tackles had a heck of a third and fourth quarter."

After forcing the sixth Indian punt of the night early in the fourth quarter, Great Bend needed just three plays before Minton found space on his own sideline and ran 63 yards to the house for the final points of the night with 10:08 remaining.

The Panther defense bent but did not break on two occasions. Late in the first half, Hays worked picked up a first down at the Great Bend 5-yard line. A dropped pass ultimately forced a fourth down when Premer used all six feet, six inches to break up a pass and force a turnover on downs. In the third quarter, Premer again used his length to block a 22-yard field goal attempt.

The Indians finished with just 236 yards of total offense on the night. Forty-one of those yards came on one run from junior Holden Lind, who finished with 121 yards on 22 carries.

"Our defense played I think the best game they've played all year," Minton said. "They locked them down."

Seven of the first eight possessions in the game ended in a punt. Hays senior Wyatt Kirkpatrick recovered a fumble on the third Panther drive. But the Panthers got a nice punt return from sophomore Cooper Ohnmacht midway through the second quarter. Facing fourth-and-20 a few plays later, Minton found Ohnmacht in the back of the end zone for a 25-yard strike to put Great Bend ahead 7-0 with 5:36 left in the first half.

Minton threw the ball just four times in the second half but finished with 100 yards and the touchdown on 9-of-16 passing. He netted minus three yards on eight carries in the first half but rushed for 104 yards on six attempts in the second half. Premer added 81 yards on seven carries on the night.

Great Bend moves to 7-0 on the season. Hays falls to 4-3 with losses to Derby and Manhattan, the top-two teams in Class 6A, and the Panthers.

Coming off a perfect 37-0 season that ended in the program’s first National Championship, Hutchinson Community College has been picked to defend their 2024 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Women’s Basketball regular season title following a vote of league coaches ahead of the 2024-25 season. &nbsp;

Securing 10 of 13 possible first-place votes to tally 165 total points, the Blue Dragons were picked no worse than third by any coach in the conference preseason poll as HCC finished 27 points ahead of second-place Dodge City Community College. The Conquistadors were picked to finish as KJCCC runners-up despite not earning a single first-place vote as DCCC edged out Barton Community College who rounds out the top three in the preseason standings with 131 total points and one first-place vote.

Following Barton is Garden City who earned 127 total points with one of the remaining two first-place votes as the Broncbusters were picked sixth or higher in 12 of the 13 ballots submitted to finish one point ahead of Butler Community College who was picked fifth with 126 total points. A sizeable point gap then saw Coffeyville picked sixth with 104 points to finish as the final team to eclipse the 100-point mark in the preseason poll followed by Seward County (99 points) and Cowley Community College who received 80 points the final first-place vote to round out the top eight.

Other teams in the preseason order of finish include Cloud County Community College in ninth (78 points) Colby in 10th (45 points), a tie for 11th between Independence and Pratt while Fort Hays Tech Northwest was picked 13th with 22 total points

The 2024-25 women’s basketball season will get underway on Friday, November 1st with nine of the 13 league teams in action on the opening day of the season. In total, 18 games will take place involving league teams over the opening weekend of the season as teams will have the first two-plus weeks of the regular season to compete in non-conference matchups before seeing a 24-game KJCCC schedule kickoff on Wednesday, November 20th with four matchups between conference schools. &nbsp;

After wrapping up the regular season on Wednesday, March 5th, postseason play will begin on Saturday, March 8th with the top four teams in the final regular season standings receiving a first-round bye in the NJCAA Region 6 Tournament. Teams that finish fifth through eighth will host teams that finish ninth through 12th in the regular season standings with the winners moving on to face the four teams that received byes on Tuesday, March 11th before seeing action move to a neutral site for the semifinals and finals. The semifinals and finals are scheduled to take place March 14-15 inside Gross Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Fort Hays State University with the NJCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball National Tournament set to take place March 25-31, 2025 in Casper, Wyoming.

Barton is coming off their first National Title in program history in their fifth all-time appearance at the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball National Tournament, winning the final 27 games of the season and all four National Tournament games by double-digits. The Blue Dragons, meanwhile, qualified for the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Tournament for the 24th time in program history, winning two games before bowing out in the NJCAA Quarterfinals to Connors State. &nbsp;

Cleveland led 3-1 in the eighth inning before Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer off All-Star closer Emanuel Clase and Giancarlo Stanton followed with a solo shot.

With the Guardians trailing 5-3 and one out from falling into a 3-0 series deficit, Lane Thomas doubled against Luke Weaver in the ninth and Noel tied the score.

Bo Naylor singled leading off 10th against Clay Holmes, Brayan Rocchio sacrificed and Naylor took third on a comebacker. Fry, who hit a Division Series-saving homer against Detroit, sent a 1-2 sinker into the left-field bleachers.

The fifth-ranked Lady Panthers dominated the field for a fourth-straight title, scoring just 22 points on the day. Dodge City finished second with 57 points, and Garden City was the only other team under 110 points with 69.

Garden City senior Cate Wiese ended Great Bend's run of individual titles as Addy Nicholson had won the last two WAC titles. Wiese cruised to Thursday's 4K title in 15:19.97. The Lady Panthers took the next four places and five of the next seven. 

Sophomore Teegan Guerra finished second overall in 15:37.32, followed by senior Marissa Boone in 16:08.49 for the bronze, and sophomore Bella Long in fourth in 16:11.98. Junior Sienna Smith ran fifth in 16:28.22, and sophomore Teah King capped team scoring in eighth in 16:58.91. Senior Kate Welcher finished 12 seconds behind her in 10th in 17:10.07, and freshman Samantha Negaard placed 12th in 17:15.84. Alyssa Prendergrast finished in 18:59.42, and Sydney James crossed in 19:52.28.

 The Garden City boys had seven of the top-10 finishers to dominate team standings with 18 points. Great Bend scored 64 points for second, followed by Dodge City with 68 points, and Hays with 110 points.

The Buffs had the top three finishers, led by senior Hayden Nemechek in 15:59 for the win by nine seconds. Panther junior Ismael Ramirez ran behind that group in 16:32.73 for fourth, seven seconds off bronze pace. Junior Tavon Stroup placed sixth in 16:38.24, and senior Diego Pasos ran 13th in 17:40.70. Sophomore Anthony Lawrence finished 20th in 18:00.82, and freshman Isaac Aldana rounded out team scoring in 25th in 18:25.22. Freshman Brogan Lashley placed 27th in 18:27.98, followed by freshman Noah Kaiser in 31st in 18:52.28, and sophomore Parker Coleman behind him in 18:53.41. Having a pair of set victories slip through their fingers, the 5th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team dropped its Wednesday evening battle of national ranked teams as 8th ranked Colby Community College capitalized for a 3-1 victory (19-25, 27-25, 25-22, 26-24).

After taking the first set, Barton led by three late in the second and had set point twice only to have the Trojans rally and score the final three tallies to even the match. Colby gained separation late in the third to grab a 2-1 match lead but with Barton owning set point in what would be the decisive frame, the Trojans rallied again with the last three points pulling off their first victory on Barton's home court since 2018.

Snapping the Cougars' 10-match win streak, the result puts both teams atop the KJCCC standings at 10-1 with Barton slipping to 23-2 overall as Colby improves to 20-2.

Next up for the Cougars is another home match coming Saturday in a 6:00 p.m. first serve hosting Seward County Community College.

Five players reached double-digit kills on the evening,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/reyes_phoebe_zp2h">Phoebe Reyes</a>' 18 leading Barton with&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wvball/2024-25/bios/nixon_kassidy_bbcx">Kassidy Nixon</a>&nbsp;recording her 9th double-double of the season behind 10 kills and 14 digs.

Colby's Karlotta Kattai led all players with a career high 21 kills with 12 digs for her 7th double-double, Celia Mboya recorded 19 kills, and Viola Giangreco added 15 kills.

Barton struck for over .360 in both the first and second sets, finishing at .243 while Colby stayed fairly consistent all night for a .253 overall attack.

The 14th tie of the second set was pivotal in not only the frame but perhaps had match implications. After Barton's initial set point was spoiled, the Cougars were again on the verge of taking the frame but a miscommunication on an attack resulted in the final tie leading the Trojans' 3-0 close out in tying the match.

A 6-0 run put the Trojans in the driver's seat at 9-5 to begin the third, Barton later closing to within 17-16 before Colby responded with three straight in going on to win by three as the Cougars hit for a night low .234 with seven attack errors.

Barton again struggled at .220 with six more attack errors in the fourth frame but did enough to keep in and have a chance to tie the match. Leading 13-9 with another four-point advantage at 14-10, Barton's lead turned into a one-point deficit behind a 4-0 run and 6-of-7 from the Trojans. With the deficit growing to 20-17, Barton clawed back with three straight for the tie, trading two-point runs with the Trojans before surging ahead behind another two-pack of points at 24-23. The third time of having set point on the night was not the charm for Barton, seeing the Trojans pull-off another comeback with the final three points clinching the match 26-24.
