To assure that offices are operating with appropriate personnel, the Authorized Positions listing is presented to the Barton County Commissioners for adoption. The 2021 listing contains all county positions, including Central Kansas Community Corrections and 20th Judicial District Juvenile Services, since both fall under the umbrella of county services.

Barton County Administrator Phil Hathcock presented the list that was approved Monday morning.

"We keep track of all authorized positions in the county, mainly to make sure we budget correctly each year to cover the number of positions that are allowed," said Hathcock.

Barton County has a total of 242 employees. Out of those, 194 are full-time workers, six part-time, 36 on-call employees and six temporary workers.

The approved 2021 Operating Budget included a three-percent raise for all county employees. Hathcock said the raise equates to approximately 50 cents per hour increase for most employees.
