The Golden Belt Humane
Society will sponsor its first Adopt-A-Pet Fund Raiser of the new year from 11
a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday January 4th at Bomgaars on West 10th in
Great Bend.&nbsp; Volunteers will be serving homemade chicken noodle soup,
vegetable beef and beef and noodle soup, crackers, cinnamon rolls and a bottle
of water in exchange for a $10 donation.&nbsp; You can also purchase soup by
the quart and cinnamon rolls by the dozen, pre-orders only.&nbsp; Proceeds from
the fund raiser will go to the care of shelter animals.&nbsp; For more

Now through January 2nd 2025, law enforcement agencies across the
state will take part in the “New Year’s Taking Down DUI Traffic Enforcement Campaign.”
&nbsp;The New Year’s holiday outranks others when
it comes to the number of crashes in which at least one of the drivers involved
is impaired by drugs or alcohol. If
you plan to drink, leave your car at home, ride with a designated driver, or
take other transportation services. If you are hosting a party, make sure everyone
has a sober ride home and if you see what appears to be an impaired driver,
please call 911.

preschool through the eighth grade are invited to enroll in the Barton Dance
Junior Clinic on Saturday, January 18th in the Kirkman Student
Activity Center at Barton Community College.&nbsp;
Registration is from 8:30 until 9 a.m. with the clinic to follow.&nbsp; Cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Participants
will learn dance routines from the Cougar Dance Team and prepare for a half-time

Barton Dance Junior Clinic  January 18th 

Join the Ellinwood EMS for
its 7th annual chili cook-off from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday January 5th
at the Ellinwood Parish Center, 110 West Second Street. The event will feature
up to 20 teams from first responder agencies and community members vying for the
title of Best Chili. Cost is $10 for all the chili you can eat. Cinnamon rolls will
also be available for a small additional fee. All proceeds will go towards the
purchase of a new Fire Department and EMS rescue truck.

and Brushstrokes,” by Jessie Rasche.&nbsp;
Rasche is a professional painter known for her expressive use of oils. Her
rural roots inspired her to begin a series of paintings of rural landscapes and

public can ride the Dolly Trolley and experience Great Bend’s Trail of Lights
during the holiday season.&nbsp; The free,
hour-long rides depart from the Rosewood Bargain Barn, 1215 Main in downtown
Great Bend.&nbsp; People can sign up for tours

Hospital Foundation is conducting its annual fall membership drive with the goal
to replace the hospital’s 23-year-old C-arm machine which is essential to the
radiology and surgery departments. Upgrading
this equipment will help Clara Barton continue to deliver the highest standard
