7:30 p.m., Thursday May 6th in the Fine Arts Auditorium.&nbsp; Tickets are $10
for adults. Children and Barton students get in free.&nbsp; The concert will
feature vocal and instrumental music groups including the Barton Jazz Ensemble,
Orchestra, Choir and Hilltop Singers.&nbsp; Donations will also be accepted at
the door with all proceeds going to the Music Endowment Scholarship fund.&nbsp;

Saturday, April 26th for the first-ever Central Kansas Paracon, an event that
will explore the 19th century tunnels beneath the city’s streets. The convention is a fundraiser for the Ellinwood Underground City Foundation
and will take place at the Historic Wolf Hotel. The day-long event will feature
six experts that specialize in paranormal investigations. General admission is
$50, while VIP passes offering full-day access to all investigations are $100. Tickets are available online. For more information, visit

In honor of Archeology Month, Kansas State Historical Society Archeologist Paige Bump, will present the program, “Ask An Archeologist,” at 7 p.m., Monday, April 28th at the Barton County Historical Society Village, south of Great Bend on Highway 281.  She will discuss artifacts and why are they important, the types of artifacts commonly found in the area and what do if you come across a prehistoric or historic item. Attendees are invited to bring up to 10 items to the meeting so they can be identified as potential prehistoric or historic artifacts, however no appraisals will be made. Red Cross Blood Drive  April 29th     

Visit the Santa Fe Trail Center west of Larned this month and view the
artwork of Robert Powell.&nbsp; Powell’s artwork is highly acclaimed and
his paintings and prints can be found in collections around the world. The exhibit is on

featured guest during the Princess Tea Party, at 10 a.m., Saturday April 26th
at the Hoisington Public Library.&nbsp; All little
princesses are invited to the Library to play a game of pin the horn on the
unicorn, take part in a scavenger hunt and enjoy cookies and drinks. Fleming is
from Greensburg, is a Miss Kansas delegate and will be attending the Miss Kansas
pageant this June. The Hoisington

Registration
is now being accepted for the 25th Annual Walk Kansas Wellness Challenge, sponsored by
K-State Research and local county extension offices. 

Walk Kansas is a team-based eight-week program designed to help
participants be more active, make better nutrition choices and reduce stress. Walk Kansas is also open to individuals
who’d like to enroll in the program by themselves, rather in a team. Cost is $10 per
person.&nbsp; This year’s walk runs through
May 24th.&nbsp; To find out more,

Sheriff’s Office and the Barton County Health Department encourage you to
dispose of all outdated and unused prescription drugs that day from 10 a.m.
until 2 p.m.&nbsp; Bring prescription medications to the collection site on the
east side of the Barton County Courthouse, near Lakin and Kansas in Great
Bend.&nbsp; Drug Take Back Day offers a safe, convenient and responsible way to
dispose of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential
for abuse of medications.
