Cedricka Williams and Ricardo Hayles of the Barton Community College track and field program have earned weekly honors following performances this past weekend at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas.

Both were named the KJCCC week six field athletes as Williams headlined the selections in picking up her fourth career national award distributed by the U.S. Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Breaking the national discus record twice last season with the latest coming just over a year ago at the same Johnson Invite, Williams returned to break her own record another pair of times, bettering her fourth attempt's 59.16m (194-1) mark a foot further on her last attempt recording a 59.46m (195-1) in winning the event for the second consecutive year.

Earlier in the day, Williams again saved the best for last in the hammer throw with a 15th place 50.04m (164-02) mark in popping on the program all-time best list at No. 10.

Williams' four USTFCCCA weekly outdoor awards are the 12th for the women's program, joined by Jazmine Williamson (2024), Kelsie Murrell-Ross (2022), Nia Robinson (2021 and 2022), Lashanna Grahm (2021), Yoveinny Mota (twice in 2019) and Lydia Mato (2015).

For Hayles, this is not only his first but the Cougar men's first outdoor weekly award, in being named the KJCCC Field Athlete of the Week.

Making just his second appearance of the outdoor season due to an injury, Hayles is well back on his way to form eclipsing his previous outing's best twice for a 3rd placing overall at 57.71m (189-04). As a freshman, Hayles uncorked a 60.83m (199-07) Region 6 winning throw sixteen feet further to rank as the program's second best ever and the NJCAA's 7th all-time effort.

Barring any additions to the schedule, the duo along with the rest of the Cougar squad will now prepare for the outdoor post-season with the KJCCC/Region 6 Championships taking place May 1-3 in Coffeyville, followed by the National Championships held May 15-17 in Hutchinson.

Barton's discus throwers earn awards

Meleia Ingram of the Barton Community College softball team has been named the Week Twelve KJCCC Pitcher of the Week.

A perfect game highlighted Ingram's 19-strikeout pair of contests, picking up victories over Southeast Community College and Pratt Community College.

On Monday, Ingram threw a seven-strikeout, four-inning performance in a non-conference victory over Southeast. Two days later, Ingram totally shut down conference foe Pratt by facing the minimum of 15 batters and striking out 12 with no batted-ball put in play, leaving the infield.

Improving to 16-4 on the season, Ingram has eclipsed 10 or more strikeouts in five contests to lower her ERA in KJCCC play to 2.50.

This is the third honor for the freshman out of Salina and the program's fifth of the season, sharing week five and six awards respectively with Karter Alvord and Chloe Enslinger giving Barton consecutive sweeps of the player and pitcher voting.

Most recently, Ingram and the Cougars ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday in El Dorado, Ingram taking the game one loss with Barton dropping both contests at 16th ranked Butler.

Sliding to 24-6 in KJCCC play and 31-13 overall, Barton winds up the regular season Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader hosting first place Hutchinson Community College (25-3, 33-7).

Braden Hauschel of the No. 17 Barton Community College baseball team has been tabbed the week 12 KJCCC West Division Pitcher of the Week.

Hauschel went 6.1-innings in a combined shutout win last Tuesday, as the Cougars took down No. 3 Cowley 10-0 in eight innings. Making his sixth start of the season, Hauschel delivered his second quality start of the season.

The freshman from Topeka, KS limited the Tigers to four hits with four strikeouts on 88-pitches, improving to 5-1 on the season before giving way to reliver Eli Lang for the final 1.2-innings.

Hauschel holds a 2-0 record over his last three starts with a 1.88 ERA in 14.1-innings of work. In that span, the freshman has surrendered three runs off eight hits, walking six and fanning 18 batters.

Overall, Hauschel has gone 25.1-innings in six starts, supporting a 2.13 ERA and strikeout rate of 9.95 per nine-innings.

The weekly award is the third straight and fifth on the season for the Cougar pitching staff, along with the sixth overall for the squad.

Hauschel joins fellow pitchers Anthony Treto's pair, Antonio Mendez week six and Ethan Minaker's honor last week while Ayden Hadley added the week nine Player of the Week distinction.

Winners of 19-straight, the Cougars will set their sights on the final four-game conference series of the regular season beginning Thursday afternoon at Dodge City Community College. First pitch of the series opener is slated for 1:00 p.m. weather permitting from Cavalier Field with the final two games of the series coming Saturday at Lawson-Biggs Field.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.
(AP) — The game between the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Royals
scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due to rain. 


After a delay of
more than two hours prior to first pitch, the game was moved to
Thursday, to be played as part of a traditional doubleheader,
beginning at 1:10 p.m. local time.

ATLANTA (AP) — Eli
White hit a tie-breaking three-run homer in the eighth inning and the
Atlanta Braves beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 to win the three-game
series. JoJo Romero gave up singles to Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies
before White went deep off Ryan Fernandez for his first homer of the
season. White was making only his sixth start of the season,
including his fourth in left field. Daysbel Hernández stranded two
inherited base runners in the eighth when he struck out Jordan
Walker. Hernández remained in the game to pitch the ninth.

UNDATED (AP) — The
judge overseeing the sprawling $2.8 billion antitrust lawsuit
settlement involving the NCAA and the nation’s five largest
conferences has delayed final approval of the plan until it is
modified to address concerns about roster limits. U.S. District Judge
Claudia Wilken signaled she is ready to approve the rest of the
settlement but wants both sides to come up with a way to not harm
current athletes who will lose their spots on teams. The settlement
calls for scholarship limits to be replaced by roster limits. Some
attorneys argued that Wilken's order could throw college sports into
chaos.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)
— The main question everyone is asking ahead of the first round of
the NFL draft on Thursday night is where Colorado quarterback Shedeur
Sanders going. They’re not just debating it on television and
sports radio. Even casual football fans in town for other business
are wondering which team is going to pick “Prime Time’s” son.
That was a discussion among a group sitting at a restaurant near
Lambeau Field on Wednesday. In a draft loaded with talented players,
Sanders has dominated the conversation in the days leading up to it.

HOUSTON (AP) —
Golden State’s Jimmy Butler sustained a pelvis contusion after
taking a hard fall on a foul by Amen Thompson late in the first
quarter and missed the rest of the Warriors’ 109-94 loss to the
Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Coach Steve Kerr said he wasn’t
sure if Butler would be available for Game 3 on Saturday. He’s
scheduled to have an MRI exam Thursday. Butler was injured when
Thompson was pushed into his legs as he jumped to try and grab a
rebound. Both players crashed to the court in the collision, but
Butler stayed down longer than Thompson.

HOUSTON (AP) —
Jalen Green made eight 3-pointers and scored 38 points to lead the
Houston Rockets to a 109-94 win over the Golden State Warriors on
Wednesday night in a testy matchup to even the first-round Western
Conference series at one game apiece. The seventh-seeded Warriors
never led and played short-handed for most of the night after Jimmy
Butler left with a pelvis contusion after a hard fall on a foul late
in the first quarter. Green, the No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft,
rebounded from a flop in his playoff debut, when he scored just seven
points on 3-of-15 shooting, with a dominant Game 2.

CLEVELAND (AP) —
Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points, including 17 in the fourth
quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers held on for a 121-112 victory
over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night for a 2-0 lead in their
Eastern Conference first-round series. The top-seeded Cavaliers set
an NBA playoff record with 11 3-pointers in the second quarter and
had 22 for the game. However, Cleveland had to hold off a second-half
charge by Miami. Tyler Herro scored 33 points for Miami, which hosts
Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.

DENVER (AP) —
Tyler Seguin scored at 5:31 of overtime after Dallas killed a late
double-minor penalty, and the Stars beat Colorado 2-1 in Game 3 on
Wednesday night in a game that featured the return of Avalanche
captain Gabriel Landeskog. Dallas took a 2-1 lead in the first-round
series with its second straight overtime victory. Game 4 is Saturday
night in Denver. Seguin knocked the puck past Mackenzie Blackwood off
a feed from Mason Marchment. It was Marchment who was sent off for
four minutes in the final minute of regulation for a high-stick that
caught Brock Nelson in the face. Stars defenseman Esa Lindell made a
key play in overtime when he deflected a shot by Artturi Lehkonen
down low.

LOS ANGELES (AP) —
Adrian Kempe had two goals and two assists, captain Anze Kopitar
added a goal and three assists, and the Los Angeles Kings routed the
Edmonton Oilers 6-2 to seize a 2-0 lead in their first-round Stanley
Cup playoff series. Quinton Byfield and Andrei Kuzmenko scored for
the second straight game, and Brandt Clarke scored his first playoff
goal in an overwhelming performance by second-seeded Los Angeles.
Leon Draisaitl and Viktor Arvidsson scored for the Oilers, whose
endemic defensive struggles couldn’t be covered up by the offensive
brilliance of Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

CHICAGO (AP) —
Steve McMichael, a star defensive tackle on the Chicago Bears’
famed 1985 Super Bowl championship team, has died following a battle
with ALS. He was 67. McMichael's publicist, Betsy Shepherd, told The
Associated Press that he died Wednesday afternoon. McMichael had a
larger-than-life personality that made him a fixture in the Windy
City for decades and a natural for professional wrestling. He was a
two-time All-Pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame
in 2024. He ranks second to Richard Dent on the Bears' career sacks
list. McMichael revealed in April 2021 that he was battling ALS.

citizens whose rendition of the national anthem caused a sensation
before their playoff opener. The Kings welcomed back the Harmonica
Class from the Koreatown Senior and Community Center before Game 2 of
their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Edmonton
Oilers. The harmonica players became a viral sensation two days
earlier when they played the anthem before Game 1. Fans in the Kings’
downtown arena loved the surprising performance and loudly sang along
to the plaintive harmonica rendition.

season. White was making only his sixth start of the season,
including his fourth in left field. Daysbel Hernández stranded two
inherited base runners in the eighth when he struck out Jordan
Walker. Hernández remained in the game to pitch the ninth.UNDATED (AP) — The
judge overseeing the sprawling $2.8 billion antitrust lawsuit
settlement involving the NCAA and the nation’s five largest
conferences has delayed final approval of the plan until it is
modified to address concerns about roster limits. U.S. District Judge
Claudia Wilken signaled she is ready to approve the rest of the
settlement but wants both sides to come up with a way to not harm
current athletes who will lose their spots on teams. The settlement
calls for scholarship limits to be replaced by roster limits. Some
attorneys argued that Wilken's order could throw college sports into

Golden State’s Jimmy Butler sustained a pelvis contusion after
taking a hard fall on a foul by Amen Thompson late in the first
quarter and missed the rest of the Warriors’ 109-94 loss to the
Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. Coach Steve Kerr said he wasn’t
sure if Butler would be available for Game 3 on Saturday. He’s
scheduled to have an MRI exam Thursday. Butler was injured when

Steve McMichael, a star defensive tackle on the Chicago Bears’
famed 1985 Super Bowl championship team, has died following a battle
with ALS. He was 67. McMichael's publicist, Betsy Shepherd, told The

larger-than-life personality that made him a fixture in the Windy
City for decades and a natural for professional wrestling. He was a
two-time All-Pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

The 30th ranked Barton Community College men's golf team placed 4th overall Tuesday at the Region 6 Championships held at Newton's Sand Creek Station Golf Course.

Barton put together a trio of solid, consistent rounds of 308-304-306 for a 54-over 918 to distance fifth place Coffeyville. At the top of standings was 3rd ranked Hutchinson at 16-over 880, two strokes ahead of 12th ranked Dodge City's 882, with 10th ranked Garden City finishing third with an 890 accumulation and 28-strokes ahead of the Cougars.

A pair of Cougars earned All-Region 6 honors led by sophomore Kaleb Lambert's 5th overall individual finish of the 35-man field at 7-over 223. Lambert made the first-round turn in the fifth position after countering three bogeys with a trio of birdies carding an even-par 72. Falling two spots following a Monday afternoon 75, Lambert climbed back in the fifth spot during Tuesday's windy morning round 76 card.

Ted Gemzell made a gritty climb shooting a 1-over in his final two rounds moving into a 2nd Team All-Region 6 honor position finishing tied for 10th at 10-over 226. Opening with an 81, the freshman carded five birdies firing a collegiate best even-par round moving up to 17th by the end of the day before leaping up another eight spots on a final round charge of 1-over 73.

Martin Chevallier finished one-stroke out of a Top-20 finish, posting twin 75 Monday rounds before dropping six spots on a final 79 in part to the testy par-5, 16th hole resulting in a double bogey to fall into 22nd at 15-over 231.

Talon Reynolds put together morning rounds of 79 and 78 with an 82 from Monday's afternoon round in placing 26th at 23-over 239.

The Cougars filled the 28th through 31st positions, Wintakorn Suwanmuang leading the way with 32-over 248 on 84-81-83 rounds. Two strokes back was Cooper Lucke after day one's 84 and 87 rounds followed by a closing 7-over par 79 for a combined 34-over 250. Mason Moore was one stroke back at 35-over 251 on 86-81-84 cards with Easton Fitzpatrick rounding out the squad at 43-over 259 following 89-84-86 rounds.

The Cougars have another short stint preparing for national implications in the NJCAA's South Central District Championships taking place April 28-29 at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City, Missouri.

Lady Panthers grab first game of three game set vs Hays

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Freddy Fermin came in at the bottom of the ninth and became a hero for Kansas City in the Royals' 11-inning, 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.

Fermin's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 11th allowed the Royals to avoid blowing a 2-0 lead with two outs in the ninth. Fermin drove in automatic runner Mark Canha after Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino were walked intentionally.

“Just breathe and stay on the plan,” Fermin said of his approach with the bases loaded. “I made a good swing, and we won the game.”

Fermin also scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Michael Massey as a pinch runner. He came in for Salvador Perez, who led off the ninth with a single, and advanced to third on a double by Maikel Garcia.

But Fermin's biggest play may have come in the top of the 10th. The Rockies had runners on second and third with one out after a sacrifice bunt by Aaron Schunk. Fermin caught automatic runner Mickey Moniak off third, with Garcia applying the tag.

“I've been practicing,” Fermin said of the pick-off play. “With Maikel and (Jonathan) India. They let me know which way to put (the throw). We did a great job right there.”

“I just wanted to make sure to get the ball, because I was right on him,” he said. "We don’t want the ball to go to left field."

Panther baseball takes two in McPherson

Tuesday's conference battle in El Dorado swayed one-sided as the Barton Community College softball team dropped a pair of losses at No. 16 Butler Community College.

Hitting into three double plays in the opener and giving up a six-run frame provided too many hurdles to battle back from as Butler won 10-4 to snap the Cougars' modest four-game win streak.

In the nightcap, Barton's high powered offense was kept in check on just five hits while the Grizzlies pounded out twelve, eight coming in the fourth inning producing eight runs breaking it open leading to an 11-5 shortened final.

The losses send Barton to third place in the conference standings at 24-6 and 31-13 overall while Butler takes over sole possession of second at 23-5 and 34-6 on the season.

Mathematically still in the title chase but needing some outside help, Barton can at least affect the top spot of the standings in Saturday's regular season finale honoring its sophomores, hosting first place Hutchinson Community College (25-3, 33-7) in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Barton was outhit on the afternoon 22-15, with half of the Grizzlies' hits connecting for extra bases including three home runs in the opener and seven doubles across the two contests.

Nearly half of the Cougars' hits came from the top two of the lineup, Laney Wood getting all three hits in the opener including her 3rd home run of the season with Aly Lawrence following in the lineup with a team best 4-of-7 performance. After the duo, the meat of the Barton lineup was held in check going just 4-of-20 with a sac fly being the lone run producer, as the lower third produced four hits being led by Karter Alvord's pair of connections.

Barton got off to a good start behind Wood's leadoff homerun but the Cougars were rolled up into double plays in three of the first four innings preventing runs reaching the scoreboard.

Butler reclaimed the lead in the second as a leadoff double and infield error helped spark a three-run frame for 3-1 advantage.

The Cougars would get one back in the top of the third as Mia Mascarenas' leadoff walk and Morgan Thatcher's sac bunt set up Wood's RBI hit. Lawrence and Allyson McDougal hits loaded the bases but the Grizzlies rolled up the twin killing ending the threat.

A 1-out Peyton McCormick walk and Alvord single showed promise in the fourth inning but again the Cougars were their own worst enemy in lining out for the frame's ender.

A pair of hit batsman along with four hits produced six runs in the home half, the big blows coming back-to-back on a grand slam and solo shot for a 9-2 Butler lead.

Thatcher's 12th badge of honor followed by Wood's third hit set up a two-run answer in the fifth, Lawrence driving in one on a double and Chloe Enslinger's sac fly. Butler countered in the sixth by getting one of the runs back on their third home run of the game closing out the scoring.

Meleia Ingram's 3.1 innings in the circle took the loss dropping to 16-5 after eight hits with eight runs scoring, Alicia Goseland hurling the final 2.2 frames surrendering two hits.

Similar to the opener, Barton got off to a promising start behind Wood's leadoff walk followed by Lawrence's single but lightning struck again as the Cougars hit into their fourth twin killing of the day.

The Cougars returned the double-dip rolling up in the home half, regaining momentum following leadoff hits from Elina Bartlett and McCormick to get a Mascarenas' sac fly taking the early lead.

The advantage only lasted until the third when Butler struck for three tallies, a leadoff double setting the stage with a 1-out hit-by-pitch, double, and single putting the Grizzlies on top 3-1.

Butler's bats stayed hot for the ensuing fourth, rolling through three Barton pitchers in plating eight runs on eight hits ballooning the margin to run-rule territory.

Following the second inning, Barton was held to just two additional hits in finishing with five total. Both knocks came in the last frame of at-bats, Alvord's leadoff single followed by Mascarenas' hit, leading to just a Thatcher RBI groundout in falling short of extending the contest.

With automatic runner Mark Canha on second starting the 11th, Tyler Kinley (0-1) intentionally walked Bobby Witt Jr., who extended his hitting streak to 14 games with an eighth-inning single. Kinley threw a wild pitch and intentionally walked Vinnie Pasquantino, and Fermin lined a single to center.

Drew Waters homered in the sixth off Ryan Feltner and Kyle Isbel bunted for an RBI single in the eighth that drove in Waters, who slid home ahead of the glove flip from first baseman Michael Toglia.

Thunder dominated the Memphis Grizzlies 118-99 to take a 2-0 lead in
their first-round Western Conference playoff series. Jalen Williams
scored 24 points and Chet Holmgren added 20 points, 11 rebounds and
five blocks for the Thunder. Oklahoma City delivered a strong
follow-up to its record-setting 131-80 win on Sunday. The Thunder
have won all six games against the Grizzlies this season by double
digits. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 26 points and Ja Morant added 23 for
Memphis. The Grizzlies will host Game 3 on Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) —
Pascal Siakam had 24 points and 11 rebounds and Tyrese Haliburton
added 21 points and 12 assists to lead the Indiana Pacers past the
Milwaukee Bucks 123-115 on Tuesday night for a 2-0 lead in the
first-round playoff series. Indiana has won five of the last six
playoff games between the teams and never trailed in this one. Game 3
will be played Friday in Milwaukee. Two-time league MVP Giannis
Antetokounmpo had 34 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists, and
All-NBA guard Damain Lillard had 14 points in his first game back
from deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. Lillard was 4 of 13 from
the field in 37 minutes. Indiana sealed the win with an 8-2 run to
end the game.

BOSTON (AP) —
Celtics forward Jayson Tatum has been listed as doubtful with a bone
bruise in his right wrist for Game 2 of Boston’s Eastern Conference
first-round series against the Orlando Magic. Tatum’s designation
was listed on the injury report released Tuesday. He injured the
wrist in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 103-86 victory in Game
1. With Boston leading 89-73 with 8:28 remaining, Tatum went up for a
dunk and was hit hard by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as he tried to
block it. Tatum landed awkwardly on his right side. Game 2 is on
Wednesday.

returned to the lineup and was back to his old self quickly for the
Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. Playing for the first time in more
than two months after dealing with a lower-body injury, Tkachuk
scored two second-period goals in his return game for the Panthers in
their Eastern Conference first-round series opener at Tampa Bay.
Those two scores were both power-play tallies, the first putting
Florida up 4-1 — the second goal for the Panthers in a 14-second
span — and the next one pushing the lead to 5-1 midway through the
second period.

LAS VEGAS (AP) —
If the Wild finally break through and win their first playoff series
in a decade, Minnesota’s top line likely will be the reason. They
were all over the Golden Knights through the first two games of this
series, which is 1-1 going back to Minnesota for Game 3 on Thursday
night. The Wild tied the series with a 5-2 win on Tuesday night. Matt
Boldy had three goals and an assist in the first two games and Kirill
Kaprizov produced two goals and three assists. Joel Eriksson Ek, who
centers the line, has yet to get on the scoresheet.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) —
Former Virginia safety Jonas Sanker took an unconventional path to
the NFL draft. He attended high school in Charlottesville, Virginia,
where he emerged as a star in eight-man football. Sanker’s rapid
ascension from fast-break style prep games to college captain to the
cusp of a pro career sounds more Hollywood than reality but Sanker
has made it this far. He's not alone in this year's draft class.
Several of this year's class have taken atypical paths to get to this
point.

FORT WORTH, Texas
(AP) — TCU and North Carolina will play their 2026 opener in
Ireland. That will come a year after Bill Belichick’s debut as
coach of the Tar Heels comes at home against the Horned Frogs. The
Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be played at Aviva Stadium
in Dublin on Aug. 29, 2026. It will be the first game abroad for both
TCU and North Carolina. Their season opener this year will be on
Sept. 1, which is Labor Day. TCU will be the home team for the game
in Ireland. The two teams were initially scheduled to open the 2026
season in Fort Worth, Texas.

Tuesday on Sports Day (Watch)

A nine run first inning set the tone for the No. 17 Barton Community College baseball team on Monday evening at Lawson-Biggs Field, as the Cougars finished off their three-game season sweep over the junior varsity squad of McPherson College behind a 21-2 seven inning run rule victory.

Combining to hit four home runs on the afternoon, Ayden Hadley and Cooper Tabor's two-run first-inning home runs highlighted Barton's nine-run first frame with the second of Hunter Alvord's two-dinger performance tying the program's single season home run record of 14 with the final tallies on the run rule victory.

Improving to 37-8 on the season and extending the winning streak to a program best 19-straight, the Cougars will set their sights on the final four-game conference series of the regular season beginning Thursday afternoon at Dodge City Community College. First pitch of the series is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. weather permitting from Cavalier Field with the final two games of the series coming Saturday at Lawson-Biggs Field.

Utilizing 17-players throughout the lineup card, Barton manufactured a run in five of their six at-bats producing 22 hits in 41 at-bats with 12 going for extra bases.

Alvord and Kyle Walker keyed the Barton hit parade as the pair turned in 4-for-6 and 4-for-5 performances respectfully. Alvord supplied two of his four hits with no-doubt fence clearers for his team leading 13th and 14th home runs to go with a double and four RBIs. Walker built his four-pack of hits behind a pair of doubles and RBI.

Hadley and Tabor combined for nine of the Cougars' 21 RBIs.

Hadley's 3-for-3 evening directed the squad with five RBIs, as the sophomore drove in three of the Cougars' nine first frame runs with the initial two-run home run for his ninth of the season and run producing double later in the inning. Tabor furnished the second two-run blast in the first with his second fence clearer of the year to anchor the lower third of the lineup as part of his 2-for-2 four RBI outing.

Hayden Oviatt fashioned two of his three RBIs with one of Barton's three triples while Jaxon Case and Barrett Donaldson added the other two each driving in one.

Making his first collegiate plate appearance in the sixth, Cade Kunz legged out a first pitch double following Hunter Houfek's RBI single in the sixth later trotting home on Alvord's second big fly.

Starting pitcher Eli Lang (3-0) notched the victory behind three no-hit innings, walking one and striking out a trio of Bulldogs.

Utilizing four relievers, Cam Bergstrom operated a scoreless fourth frame with two strikeouts while Drew Florance handled the fifth scattering two hits, two unearned runs and strikeout in his collegiate debut.

Tyler Stuhlsatz and Jack Dilley tossed the final two innings each working clean sheets with a combined five punchouts, Stuhlsatz recording a pair and Dilley striking out the side to end it in the seventh.

seven NCAA schools fielding a club team this spring in a league
launched with $140,000 and logistical support from the Minnesota
Vikings. The championship tournament is this weekend. More than 100
higher-educational institutions are currently offering women’s flag
football as a varsity or club sport.

after a penalty shootout against France.

Rockies play the Royals looking to stop road skid

It was another split-squad weekend for the Barton track and field program competing this past weekend at the Michael Johnson Invitational and Coyote Challenge.

The majority of the nationally ranked programs headed south to Waco, Texas, posting 14 personal and/or season best efforts, added 9 new national qualifiers, with four performances within the program top ten lists, while a smaller squad of athletes in Salina recorded 6 new best efforts.

Highlighting the accomplishments was Cedricka Williams resetting her discus National Record just over a year from breaking it as a freshman. On Friday, in her second event of the day, Williams' fourth toss broke the record but her last attempt pushed the mark out even further to 59.46m (195-01), 5 ½ feet further than last year's accomplishment to better the four-year level dominated Johnson Invite field by over seven feet.

Earlier in the day, Williams again saved the best for last in the hammer throw with a 15th place 50.04 (164-02) mark in popping on the program all-time best list at No. 10.
