
On Monday, at 3:59 p.m., the Russell City Fire Department advised of heavy smoke coming from the area of the Waster Water Treatment Facility. The fire was confirmed in a wheat stubble fire between the Waste Water Facility & Front Street.
Mutual aid was activated with Russell-Grant TWP Fire Department. Crews were able to get the fire under control and Russell Grant was released just before 5 p.m. The Russell City Fire Department remained on scene until 6:30 p.m., cutting down trees that were burning on the inside and mopping up hot spots.
The fire is currently under investigation by The City of Russell Fire Department.
