Spring break is a time for kids and their parents to recharge, gear up for the school year's home stretch, and have some fun. If you're planning to take it easy next week, the Kansas Wetlands Education Center (KWEC) has activities planned for next week.
Fort Hayes Program Specialist Mandy Kern says "Spring Break Week at the Wetlands" will host various free, hands-on interactive activities each day with different themes.
"It's going to be a variety of presenters, including Fort Hays State University graduate students that help us out one day a week and weekends. Each day is a different activity, so people are welcomed to come out every day next week," explained Kern.
Activity themes scheduled for next week include the "Science of Rainbows," "Digging into Dirt," "Microscope Magic," "Who Eats Who in the Wetland," and the "Wonders of Water."
Kerns says that if you prefer a virtual format, kids can still participate each day.
"For those who can't travel, every day at 10 am, we are going to do a Facebook Live. We will introduce the grad student and get to know them better before they start their activity. I'll post a list on Facebook of the materials needed to follow along and do the same activity we will do at the center in the afternoon," said Kern.
Daily activities are held in a come-and-go format from Monday, March 15 through Friday, March 19, from 1 – 5 pm. No registration is required, but KWEC will require everyone to wear masks.
