The City of Great Bend put out bids for construction of C-CLIP Pavement Surfacing Improvements. CCLIP stands for City Connecting Link Improvement Program and is a federal and state-funded program that provides funds to cities to address state highways that go through their city limits.
The Great Bend City Council approved a bid for improvements on both Main Street and Patton Road. Assistant City Engineer Hitha Kadiyala said the project limits are Main from the bridge to 2nd Street. On Patton, the project will go from 10th Street to 9th Street.
"The scope of this project generally consists of two-inch mill and overlay of pavement with full-depth patching as needed," said Kadiyala. "Venture Corporation is the only bid we received. The KDOT engineers sent their approval."
Venture Corporation’s bid was accepted for $477,328.20. The State’s participation if 90% and City’s portion is 10% for the project. Funding will come from the KDOT Grants Fund.
Kadiyala expected the project to begin at the end of March or early April.
