Business owners are tasked with an obvious yet constant task…making sure potential customers know where their company is located. In an effort to help retail businesses, the Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau will create a new shopping guide map.
CVB Director Christina Hayes said the current map in the visitor’s guide needs to be updated, and the new map will be animated to showcase the shopping districts and the entire town of Great Bend.
"I feel like this will be a fun, new way to showcase Great Bend," said Hayes. "It'll be shopping, and we'll focus on certain areas on one side of this big foldout map. The other side will be the big map which will also have hotels marked and points of interests, like our zoo and waterpark."
The Great Bend CVB hired Lindsey Kernodle, a freelance illustrator, to illustrate a map of Great Bend that highlights shopping locations and areas of interest for visitors. Kernodle used to work as a graphic artist at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita. She will be making a visit to Great Bend this month.
Hayes was hopeful to have the illustrated map finished by the end of the year to have available for visitors.
