The turf project at the Great Bend Sports Complex is complete and a
ribbon cutting will held Feb. 17, 2022.
The City of Great Bend, USD 428 and Great Bend Recreation Commission
collaborated to finance a $1.37 million project that installed artificial turf
on the infields on the four ballfields at the complex and nearby Langrehr
Field.
City Administrator Kendal Francis said it will be nice for the public to see
the finished product after Hellas Construction finished ahead of schedule.
"We have a little while until that comes up," said Francis. "We want to christen it before the high school baseball and softball seasons start. We'll get out more information in regards to that as the time gets closer."
Hellas had until Feb. 1 to complete the project but wanted to
finish early with the colder weather approaching.
The scoreboards and other areas will also be updated with the new logos from
the city, school district and recreation commission.
