Joined by the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, the event marked the unveiling of an exciting addition to the zoo—a new, more accessible playground and swingset for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Under the leadership of Aaron Emerson, the Board President of the Great Bend Zoological Society, this momentous occasion showcased the commitment and collaborative efforts to enhance the visitor experience at the Great Bend Zoo. With the support of the local community, the Great Bend Zoological Society has diligently worked to make the zoo a destination that fosters education, conservation, and recreation.
As a nonprofit organization, the Great Bend Zoological Society serves as the primary advocate for the Great Bend Zoo, which has been a beloved institution for over 70 years. The zoo attracts over 40,000 visitors annually, offering an immersive experience that connects people with diverse animal species from around the world.
With no employees but a dedicated team of eight board members and a membership base of 150 individuals, the Great Bend Zoological Society operates with the primary goal of supporting and promoting the growth of the Great Bend Zoo. By
providing funding, resources, and volunteer support, the society enables the zoo to continue providing a remarkable and educational experience to visitors of all ages.
