The Kansas Trophy Experience in Great Bend was founded in 2019 to provide guided hunting packages and a full-service hunting lodge for avid hunters all over the country. This week the establishment is hosting their second “Shoot Like A Girl Experience” sponsored by Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops.
Shoot Like A
Girl was created in 2008 by Karen Butler to increase the number of women who
participate in shooting sports by empowering them with confidence.
"We're all so busy and this has been a crazy time," said Butler. "We have to give ourselves that moment of peace and serenity. You get that only from going in nature and sitting outside. That's what it's all about for me. The harvest and meat in the freezer is the bonus."
Along with Shoot Like A Girl staff, eight women across the country arrived in
Great Bend early this week where they received training in the traveling
trailer, guided turkey hunts, and a gear package with a new shotgun and other
accessories.
Kansas Trophy Experience co-founder Trevor Olsen said this is the second year
for this exclusive event at the facility, and seeing all these women come
together is a blast.
"It's great seeing the women really enjoy themselves and be confident in hunting," said Olsen. "Some of them, it's their first turkey hunt ever. That's really special to us and special to them."
Shoot Like A Girl is based out of Alabama and drove to Great Bend to chase Rio turkeys
for the three-day event.
