After a year off, Sports Day, with host Steve Webster, returned to the airwaves of 1590 KVGB/95.5 FM last August. After taking the summer months off, the show returns on Monday, Aug. 24, just in time for the fall sports season. The hour-long show features daily commentary on sports headlines, interviews with area coaches and athletes, and chats with some of the leading sports media members around Kansas.

"Sports Day was a blast," said Operations Manager Mike Hesher. "I really think the major event for me was talking to all the young people around the area. They made the show. Obviously, talking to the coaches was nice, but the young people, just how well-spoken they were, how enthusiastic they were, and how respectful they were to us."

Sports Day has been around for more than a decade, but the show made its multi-cast debut last year and will again stream live on the Eagle Communications YouTube channel this year. Various graphics were introduced throughout the year, and those will be new and improved for the upcoming season.

"We have some changes coming along for streaming," said Hesher. "I found out some information for the summer, and I think the streaming will be a lot cleaner than it was last year. We're going to have some graphics up with logos and stuff like that that tells who is helping sponsor the show. If not for the people sponsoring it, we wouldn't be able to do it."

Each day, Webster will be joined by Hesher, Mike Courson, and "Voice of the Great Bend Panthers" Aaron Clark. Other frequent guests include "Voice of the Hoisington Cardinals and Barton Community College Cougars" Cole Reif, "Voice of the Fort Hays State Tigers" Gerard Wellbrock, and Prep Insider and Sunflower Sports Solutions Founder Conor Nicholl.

Sports Day can be heard live on 1590 KVGB/95.5 FM each Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The show simulcasts live as a video production on YouTube, and those videos can also be viewed at any time by visiting GreatBendPost.com or subscribing on YouTube.
