This year's senior class at Great Bend High School will be getting a dose of reality next week from the United Way of Central Kansas. And it won't be the first time.

Members of the Class of 2021 are being invited to attend a half-day seminar called #RealWorld. Gaila Demel, United Way of Central Kansas Executive Director, says the event is a follow-up to the Reality U program that is offered to middle schoolers in Great Bend. This year's senior class was the first class enrolled in Reality U when they attended Great Bend Middle School.

"We're bringing in several speakers," Demel said. "I'm talking about those skills and those readiness components as those seniors are losing their safety net if they're going to be going on to college or a technical school or the workforce or whatever they're going to do."

The course will contain five topics: Money Matters, Renting 101, Consequences of Decisions, Finding Balance and Healthy Relationships.

The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, May 12 at the high school auditorium.
