Great Bend's Cinco de Mayo celebration is scheduled this year for Saturday, May 8. The annual event was canceled last year because of the pandemic.
Margarita Castruita Rincon Ayala is helping organize the activities. She said a parade down Main Street will kick off around 11 a.m. The parade will feature the 2021 Cinco de Mayo Queen and her attendants.
Ayala said the celebration will continue with a program at Jack Kilby Square.
"We announce the Queen," Ayala explained. "Right after that, we'll have a Zumba performance and tap dancing from a couple of students from Holy Family. We'll have folk dancing."
Ayala says there will be plenty of music and food. The event is scheduled to last until 4 pm.
