Spending New Year's Day in jail is no way to begin 2025. Driving under the influence may result in a suspended driver's license and higher insurance premiums. It can also ruin lives. Director of Promotions Becca Fletcher said that's why Eagle Media is again partnering with the Great Bend Police Department for the New Year's Eve Taxi.
"On New Year's Eve, give them a call from 6 p.m. until 3 a.m. at (620) 639-8294," Fletcher said. "All you have to do is make a $10 donation. An officer from the Great Bend Police Department will pick you up and drive you home. The great thing is, the proceeds benefit the Kids' Christmas Gift Fund."
A $10 donation, per person, is still much cheaper than paying fines and fees associated with a DUI arrest. The taxi will drop residents off anywhere in Barton County.
