USD 428 School Board approves agreement to continue wages for teachers

The USD 428 Board of Education and Great Bend National Education
Association (NEA) entered into an agreement regarding the distance learning due
to school closures related to COVID-19. The agreement works out the details for
teachers and other staff pertaining the remaining school year which ends at the
end of June.
Those comfortable reporting to an open school building may perform their work
responsibilities in the building, but classroom teachers will be allowed to
work from a remote location.
As much as possible, communication between teachers and students/parents will
be through email or online platforms being used to post and deliver
instruction.
If classroom teachers need assistance with students who are not participating,
or otherwise not performing the required lessons, the teacher will inform the
building principal who will address the issue.
Members will be compensated their full salaries. Staff members that coach or
supervise extra-curricular activities shall be paid their full stipends.
Barton County buildings have been restricted to the public. Please call the county office you wish to transact business with for more information. You can also visit the website at: www.bartoncounty.org for more information and instruction on how to conduct business with the County at this time. We cannot stress enough the need to practice good hygiene and maintain social distancing by using the County’s online functions, emailing or calling ahead for assistance. County officials will continue to provide further information as it becomes available.
