Inmate who walked away from Larned facility apprehended

PAWNEE COUNTY — Kansas Department of Corrections Agents working with local law enforcement aprerehended Smith just before 7:30p.m. Sunday, according to a media release from the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility.  They released no additional details.

PAWNEE COUNTY— Minimum-custody inmate Ronald Smith has been placed on escape status after he walked away from Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility at approximately 8:05 a.m., Sunday, according to a media release.

Smith, a 52-year-old Male, was reported missing when the offender could not be located at his work assignment at the Larned State Hospital.

Smith is currently serving a sentence for a 2018 Reno County conviction for Possession of opiates, opium, narcotic drugs; Flee or elude LEO with five or more moving violations; Theft; and Burglary.

Smith is described as 5-feet-10 inches tall, 179 pounds with green eyes and black/grey hair.
