Larned man hospitalized after semi trucks collide

PAWNEE COUNTY — One person was injured in an accident just before 10:30a.m. Monday in Pawnee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Peterbilt semi driven by  Jeremy Essmiller, 26, Pawnee Rock, was westbound on Kansas 156 three miles east of Rozel.

The driver attempted to pass a  2004 Kenworth semi driven by Steven Doyle, Larned, as the Kenworth slowed and began turning south onto 250th Avenue.

The driver's side of the Peterbilt semi's trailer collided with the rear passenger side corner of the Kenworth's trailer.

 Both vehicles remained connected and upright as the entered the south ditch, where they came to rest.

 EMS transported Doyle to the hospital in Larned. Essmiller was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
