The installation of the new heating and air conditioning system at the Crest Theatre on Lakin Avenue in Great Bend is wrapping up this week.
Glassman Corporation from Hays had the task of removing the old HVAC system, that was the original system from when the building was built in 1950, and installing the new unit.

City Administrator Kendal Francis says the Crest will soon be fully operational with the new HVAC positioned outside of the theater to the southeast.
"We will schedule a final walk-through and then I will work on finalizing the grant and tax credits so we can get reimbursed for our portion of that," said Francis.
Glassman’s bid for the project came in at $572,700. The City of Great Bend budgeted $350,000 over the past two years and received a $90,000 grant through the Kansas Historic Preservation Office to help pay for the HVAC. The remaining balance will be taken care of by the Crest Theatre Board.
