Barton County is required to form and maintain a Solid Waste Planning Committee to develop and perform an annual review of the Solid Waste Management Plan, which is then approved by the Barton County Commission. The committee is comprised of representatives of cities, counties, and private industry served by the Barton County Landfill.
County Administrator Phil Hathcock says they were fortunate to get volunteers to fill open positions.
"Unfortunately, many people have retired from within the county, so our committee has been lacking," said Hathcock. "Graciously, two of the commissioners volunteered."
The Commission approved the appointment of Jim Daily, Kenny Schremmer, Debbie McCormick, and Rod Wheaton to the Solid Waste Planning Committee.
Each member will serve a four-year term.
