With outstanding warrants, man arrested in Great Bend for drug charges

On Saturday, Nov. 30 at about 10:37 p.m., Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Baker Street.


The 2007 GMC Yukon was stopped for an equipment violation. A passenger in the vehicle

was identified as Melvin Gray, age 51 of Great Bend.


Gray had outstanding warrants from Rush County. The Sheriff’s Office K9 officer Maxx, was at the scene and indicated the presence of controlled substances. Methamphetamine and marijuana were located.


Gray was transported to the Barton County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. He is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond on the Barton County charges.


Gray is also being held for Rush County on the outstanding warrant with a bond of $25,000.


The Sheriff’s Office will continue its aggressive pursuit of methamphetamine, the investigation is ongoing.
