Sorghum Export Report
Export sales were strong again this week with China committing to purchase another 4.3 million bushels of sorghum for delivery in the 2021/22 marketing year, which starts Sept. 1. Additionally, China took delivery of 2.9 million bushels of sorghum this week. Basis was mostly flat across the Sorghum Belt given almost nonexistent stocks. Basis remains strong on the gulf where sorghum is trading at 136 percent of corn.

NSP Holds Virtual D.C. Fly-In
National Sorghum Producers held their annual D.C fly-in, virtually, February 8-19. Fifty-seven meetings were held virtually and in-person with Members of Congress from across the Sorghum Belt. NSP board directors, members. Legislative Committee members and staff met with Congressional Members from 13 states, including 11 freshman Members and four Members who were newly appointed to the House and Senate agriculture committees. Topics covered in the meetings included sustainability, taxes, disaster assistance, trade and renewable fuels. While NSP looks forward to scheduling meetings in-person in Washington, D.C., this new format allowed the organization to involve more NSP members from Congressional Representatives’ and Senators’ home districts and was very successful.
