Identifying workforce issues and concerns

The federal government provides funding for training of workers to compete for employment as well as to support employment centers throughout the country. The Kansas Governor designates 62 central and western counties as local workforce development area one.

Barton County Commissioner Don Davis serves as a board member for the organization and talked about the importance of keeping the county involved.

"It is very important to keep Barton County included in this because they have one of their main offices in Great Bend," said Davis. "They give us a really good service."

No local money is provided for the service as it is federal and state grant funded.

The Commission approved the Local Workforce Development Area I agreement.

As a board member, Davis helps identify workforce issues and concerns and bring together necessary assets to facilitate solutions that foster prosperity.

Davis was voted on to serve on the board until the end of his term as Commissioner.
