Great Bend Post
The Great Bend City Council will revisit the allowance of an additional
15-minute parking stall to assist a downtown business.
On Feb. 21, the Great Bend Tribune requested a 15-minute
parking stall in front of their business on Forest Avenue to assist elderly
customers in accessing the building. At the meeting, Mayor Cody Schmidt noted
approving a special parking stall for a business opens a can of worms for any other business wanting designated parking. The city council asked the city to
research how many special business parking stalls currently exist.
There are nine, 15-minute parking spaces throughout town, including two in
front of City Hall on Williams Street.
The Tribune is asking that the sixth parking stall east of Williams Street, on
the north side of Forest, be turned into 15-minute parking form 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. on weekdays.
The city council will be presented the resolution at Monday’s meeting.
