Carrothers Construction specializes in building new aquatic facilities and the Paola, Kansas based company continues to make progress on the new pool in Hoisington.

The just over $3 million project is on pace to be finished before the 2022 swimming season, according to Hoisington City Manager Jonathan Mitchell.

"We hope this will turn into the northern Barton County pool, if not a countywide draw," said Mitchell. "Anytime you bring something new to your community, people flock to that."

The Hoisington public pool was constructed in 1962 and has seen its share of maintenance issues in recent years. The design will include a splash pad that will be accessible even when the pool is closed as long as it is warm enough.

For a number of years, Hoisington set aside funding for the pool replacement. The city’s “quality of life” sales tax will cover a large portion of the expense.
