An assortment of big band and pop music will be heard at Jack Kilby Square on Friday night, July 23. A group of 13 musicians from the Great Bend City Band will be performing at 8:15 p.m.
Only one City Band concert had been planned this year, but band organizer Kurtis Koch concluded that a second concert might be appreciated.
"Since the concert July 1 was such a huge success, I just all of a sudden thought I’m going to start calling people and see if we can’t get something together,” Koch explained. “So I emailed and called a crew of musicians that I know, and they all said yes we can do this.”
The big band selections will include music made popular by the Glenn Miller and Ray Anthony bands. The group will also be performing hits from Blood, Sweat & Tears, Bon Jovi, the Beach Boys and the Doobie Brothers.
The concert is free. Everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the outdoor concert.
