As the Memorial Day holiday has passed, the Great Bend Cemetery staff sends out a friendly reminder that any flowers or items not on the tombstones themselves need to be picked up.
Cemetery guidelines allow citizens to place
flowers on the ground around graves the weekend prior to Memorial Day but ask that they are picked up by
Sunday, June 5, according to Michelle Davis with the cemetery.
"We're in our mowing season right now," said Davis. "We understand that some families out of town call a flower shop and have flowers put down. If they could give us the grace period during our summer mowing season that would great."
Cemetery staff will be removing any and all remaining flowers and decorations
starting Monday, June 6 at 8 a.m.
"We won't be removing anything in the vases or stone toppers, but anything on the ground will need to be picked up if you want to keep it," said Davis."
