Deacon John Stang to speak to Great Bend Rotary, Aug. 9

John Stang, son of Great Bend Rotarian, Dr. Patrick Stang and his wife Cathy, is studying for the Priesthood in Denver, and will talk to the Rotary Club of Great Bend at noon on August 9 in the basement of the Great Bend Public Library. Topic of his remarks will be "Life as a New Deacon/Cleric."

John Stang was born April 3, 1990 in Iowa City, IA and is an only child. He grew up in Great Bend, attending Prince of Peace Parish. He attended Eisenhower Elementary, Great Bend Middle School, and graduated from Great Bend High School in 2009. 

In 2013, John received his B.A. in history at Roanoke College, a liberal arts college in Salem, VA.  Then he worked as a newspaper reporter in Virginia before entering the seminary for the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City in 2015. For the last six years, John has studied at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver, CO, where he will also complete his final year of seminary formation.
