Great Bend Post
The Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo informed the public their bald eagle isn’t
feeling well. As the zoo staff tries to get the eagle feeling better, the bird
will be moved to an enclosure off-exhibit where she can spend her remaining
time in a calm, quiet area.
Last week, keepers noticed the bald eagle, known as Mrs. B, wasn’t behaving
normally. The bird was moved inside to make sure she receives food, water and
medications.
Mrs. B has been at the zoo since 1979, and staff believes she was an adult at
the time she arrived, making her potentially 49 years old. The oldest wild
eagle recorded was 36 and the oldest captive eagle was 47.
Staff has run blood work and are awaiting results to see if there is anything
further they can do.
