Great Bend Post
In June 2021, the Great Bend City Council approved a Common Consumption Area downtown where alcohol could be sold and consumed outdoors. The consumption district started on Forest Avenue, between Main and Williams, and has been used for the Final Fridays on Forest events with live music and food.
Great Bend Alive, the downtown arm of Economic Development, is asking the council to approve an ordinance that will expand the consumption area. Along with alleyways, the proposed consumption area will include the portions of Lakin Avenue and 12th Street, between Main and Williams. Spot areas will include the parking lot to the north of Charlie’s Place and the outdoor gathering place being constructed on the southwest corner of Forest and Williams.
Possession and consumption of alcoholic liquor or cereal malt beverages would only be allowed on specific dates and times.
The agenda item will be presented at the meeting on Monday, Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
