MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Dug McDaniel scored a season-high 24 points and Kansas State beat No. 13 Arizona 73-70 on Tuesday night for its sixth straight victory — four against ranked opponents.

David N’Guessan had 16 points and seven rebounds for the resurgent Wildcats (13-11, 7-6 Big 12), who lost six in a row right before this winning streak. C.J. Jones added 10 points, and McDaniel finished with five steals, four rebounds and three assists.

KJ Lewis led Arizona (17-7, 11-2) with 15 points off the bench. The Wildcats missed a desperation heave at the buzzer, ending their six-game winning streak.

Jaden Bradley had 13 points, Henri Veesaar scored 12 and Tobe Awaka added 10 for Arizona, which lost for only the second time since Dec. 14.

Kansas State ended the first half on a 13-0 run to take a 35-29 lead into the break.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Kellen Moore, who oversaw the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-2025-eagles-chiefs-score-e2ff209c074a00a6faff39750ff048f8">Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles</a>&nbsp;' offense this season, has agreed to return to the site of his latest triumph as the next coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The 36-year-old Moore will join an organization that has been floundering since the retirement of quarterback Drew Brees and departure of Super Bowl-winning coach Sean Payton. The Saints haven’t made the playoffs since the 2020 season — the last of Brees’ career.

Their interest in Moore became increasingly evident as the club waited longer to fill its vacancy than any other NFL team seeking a new coach this year.

Moore was the only assistant coach on either Super Bowl team to be interviewed by New Orleans and thus the only candidate who, under league rules, could not be hired until after Sunday’s title game was played. The Saints announced their agreement with Moore on Tuesday.

Their decision mirrors that of several teams that have found success after hiring relatively young offensive coaches. They included the Los Angeles Rams with Sean McVay, Green Bay with Matt LaFleur, Miami with Mike McDaniel and Minnesota with&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/sports/how-they-voted-vikings-kevin-oconnell-wins-ap-nfl-coach-of-the-year-00000194de74df5eadfffff4a9ab0000">2024 AP Coach of the Year Kevin O’Connell</a>. All four of those coaches were hired while in their 30s.

“I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and am eager to get started,” Moore, whose formal introduction is scheduled for Thursday, said in a statement released by the club.

A standout college quarterback at Boise State, Moore had a six-year career as a practice squad or reserve QB with Detroit (2012-2014) and Dallas (2015-2017). He played in just three regular-season games, all with the Cowboys in 2015.

He moved into coaching in 2018 as a quarterbacks coach and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2019. He left Dallas to join the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before moving to Philadelphia in 2024.

While Moore tended to favor pass-heavy schemes in his early years as a coordinator, he adapted when he joined the Eagles.

Recognizing Philadelphia’s strength as a running team — with its&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-eagles-chiefs-f0eb4e585b57d3a05633dc79e9791b99">big, physical offensive line</a>, star&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-eagles-barkley-5e28abc26e50169e124fa99c2ef4058e">running back Saquon Barkley</a>&nbsp;and mobile&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-2025-eagles-hurts-mvp-1b435e1bdffc3f8a8e41d98a71695440">quarterback Jalen Hurts</a>&nbsp;— Moore oversaw the NFL’s second-ranked ground game in 2024.

The Eagles rushed for a franchise-record 3,048 yards, with Barkley gaining 2,005 of that before adding an additional 499 yards in four playoff games. And when the Chiefs limited Barkley to 57 yards rushing in the Super Bowl, Moore responded with well-timed passing plays that included touchdowns of 46 yards to DeVonta Smith and 12 yards to A.J. Brown.

While in New Orleans for the Super Bowl this past week, Moore discussed how he tries feature the strengths of available personnel in his play-calling.

“You have certain things that you have strong feelings about from a coaching perspective — certain philosophies — but I think it’s important to do what your players do best,” Moore said. “Going from Dallas to LA to Philadelphia, we’ve certainly played three different styles, and it’s fun when you team up with people just building it however we want to.”

Saints quarterback Derek Carr has two years left on his contract, but his future with the Saints is cloudy following a pair of non-playoff seasons with the club.

Moore will become the Saints’ second head coach since&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-sports-new-orleans-saints-super-bowl-sean-payton-edf61dc06a57e759f19c6e9fcfdb4c45">Payton briefly retired following the 2021 season</a>, during which New Orleans went 9-7 and narrowly missed the playoffs.

That was the first of what is now four straight seasons without a playoff berth.

Payton’s former defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen, took over in 2021, only to go 18-25 during 2 1/2 seasons before being fired following&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/saints-dennis-allen-fired-798d8b1d17d5f57acc8e0ec64582dfd9">a seven-game skid</a>.

Darren Rizzi, who was a special teams coordinator under both Payton and Allen, took over on an interim basis and went 3-5.

He wanted to remain with the Saints and interviewed for the full-time job after this season. New Orleans also interviewed Miami Dolphins coordinator Anthony Weaver, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and Buffalo offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

Former Dallas and Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy also was expected to interview with New Orleans, but withdrew his candidacy on Jan. 28, just days after Brady withdrew.

Fox Sports is projecting a Super Bowl record average audience of 126 million U.S. viewers across television and streaming platforms for&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-2025-eagles-chiefs-score-e2ff209c074a00a6faff39750ff048f8">Philadelphia’s 40-22 victory over Kansas City</a>&nbsp;on Sunday night. The game was televised by Fox, Fox Deportes and Telemundo and streamed on Tubi as well as the NFL’s digital platforms. Fox’s projections on Monday included Nielsen’s early numbers and streaming data from Tubi and the NFL. Updated and more complete numbers were expected on Tuesday. It would be the second straight year the Super Bowl has reached a record audience. The Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime victory over San Francisco last year averaged 123.7 million on CBS, Nickelodeon, Univision and streaming platforms. According to Fox, the audience peaked at 135.7 million in the second quarter. The early data projects 14.5 million watched on streaming platforms, including 13.6 million on Tubi, where the game was available for free.

HOUSTON (AP) — L.J. Cryer scored 14 points, Milos Uzan added 12 points and six assists, and No. 6 Houston beat Baylor 76-65 on Monday night for its third straight victory. Terrance Arceneaux had 11 points and J’Wan Roberts scored 10 for Houston (20-4, 12-1 Big 12). Emanuel Sharp also finished with 10 after missing two games with an ankle injury. The Cougars shot 51% and went 10 of 24 on 3-pointers. They reached 20 wins for the 10th consecutive season. Norchad Omier scored 19 points and Langston Love added 15 for Baylor (15-9, 7-6), which shot 58% — including 9 of 15 on 3s. VJ Edgecombe had 14 points and Robert Wright III finished with 10. Baylor lost its third straight road game and fell to 0-4 against ranked opponents in true road games this season.

The American holder of a record 99 World Cup wins suffered a deep puncture wound when she fell in a giant slalom race on&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/mikaela-shiffrin-ski-team-c94bc81f7684e2d76dfb86b4a373eafe">Nov. 30 in Killington, Vermont</a>, causing severe trauma to her oblique muscles.

“I’m mentally blocked in being able to get to the next level of pace and speed and putting power into the turns,” Shiffrin said in an audio message shared with The Associated Press on Monday. “And that kind of mental, psychological like PTSD-esque struggle is more than I anticipated.

“I figured once we touched ground in Europe and we got a chance to get some repetitive training days, I would be able to improve step by step and sort of the passion and the longing for racing was going to outweigh any fear that I had,” she added.

Whatever stabbed Shiffrin in her fall at Killington nearly punctured her abdominal wall and her colon. She told The Associated Press last month that her injury was “a millimeter from pretty catastrophic.”

Shiffrin also had a high-speed crash in downhill in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, last season that kept her out for six weeks. She has discussed her fears with a psychologist, said Megan Harrod, Shiffrin’s spokeswoman.

As most of the Barton Community College track and field program taking the week off, a four-pack of Cougars competed Friday in the Steve Miller Invitational held at Kansas State University's Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track in Manhattan, Kansas.

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/mtrack/2024-25/bios/adams_simeon_qd7l">Simeon Adams</a>&nbsp;was the lone Cougar male entry, utilizing the training opportunity against the four-year level heavy 800m competition to reach nationally qualifying standards by clocking a 1:53.52 in placing 6th overall.

Adams, who is also qualified in the 600m, brings the squad's total to 15 national tickets spread across seven individual Cougars.

On the women's side, a trio of Cougars competed in the equally heavy four-year level of competition.

In the first track event of the day,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/spigner_kennidra_kyct">Kennidra Spigner</a>&nbsp;placed 12th overall in the four-year level heavy 200m competition clocking a 25.89.

An hour later&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/mcpherson_narissa_mdc1">Narissa McPherson</a>, who is already nationally qualified in the 600m and member of the top ranked 4x400m relay team, placed 11th competing the 600-yard event with a 1:28.45.

Also already qualified and currently ranked fifth in the 60m hurdles,&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://www.bartonsports.com/sports/wtrack/2024-25/bios/adams_ty-yanah_jp8t">Ty'yanah Adams</a>&nbsp;placed 10th on the day with an 8.88.

Altogether, the women's squad has 13 individuals racking up 18 national qualifying performances plus the nation's top ranked 4x400m relay team.

The four will join the rest of the squad next weekend competing in the two-day Tyson Invitational beginning Friday held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for final preparation for the KJCCC/Region 6 Indoor Championships taking place February 22-23 at Pittsburg State University.

Treto and Mendez combine for first no-hitter since 2014; Cougs split opener

Aaron Rodgers is still contemplating whether to continue his playing career. If he does, it appears it won’t be with the New York Jets.

The team has told the 41-year-old quarterback it is “moving on from him,”&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFLonFOX/status/1888659693620343053" target="_blank">Fox Sports reported</a>&nbsp;Sunday.

Rodgers said toward the end of the Jets’ 5-12 season he was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/aaron-rodgers-ny-jets-ed08ff7e68ca55663b11e5c5d5a9b1ea">undecided on his playing future</a>, saying he wanted to take “a break mentally to kind of refresh and put my feet in the sand, and see where I’m at after that.”

But there was uncertainty as to whether the Jets would even want to move forward with the four-time MVP as the team’s quarterback. The Jets recently hired general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn, and owner Woody Johnson said at their&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-glenn-mougey-6eb45f44ad99914e3d82f818dbc9ba3f">introductory news conference</a>&nbsp;on Jan. 27 the new regime would have the final say in that decision.

Glenn said he already had texted Rodgers and there would be discussions with him — as well as other players on the roster — in the near future. The new Jets coach also told reporters “this thing is not about Aaron Rodgers,” saying it’s a big-picture approach with the focus on the entire team.

And apparently, the Jets will move forward without Rodgers.

Fox Sports first reported that Rodgers met with the Jets in New Jersey and was told of the team’s plans.

The Jets currently also have veteran Tyrod Taylor and youngster Jordan Travis, who spent his entire rookie season on the non-football injury list, on the roster. But New York has the No. 7 overall pick in the draft in April and could pursue a quarterback.

Rodgers, the fifth player in NFL history to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/jets-rodgers-500-dolphins-3b72d5e2200f9f8a791113537975a776">throw 500 touchdown passes</a>&nbsp;in the regular season, has one year of non-guaranteed money left on his contract with the Jets. He would count $23.5 million against the salary cap.

If Rodgers is cut or retires, the Jets could absorb a $49 million dead money charge next season unless they designate him a post-June 1 cut and can spread out that charge over two years.

After spending his first 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers was traded to the Jets in April 2023.

The Barton Community College women's basketball team scored Saturday afternoon's first eight points before pulling away for good in the final fourteen minutes picking up a 73-50 victory at Pratt Community College.

Victors of 18-of-the-last-19 in the series, Barton improves to 8-10 in conference play and 12-12 overall while Pratt suffers their 11th straight loss dropping to 1-16 in the KJCCC and 6-17 on the year.

A two-game festive homestand is ahead on the schedule beginning Wednesday hosting Seward County Community College for "Pink-Out Night" followed by Saturday's Hall of Fame Day welcoming 5th ranked Dodge City Community College. The Saints will be coming off the high of knocking off the Conquistadors today moving into sole possession of fifth place while Dodge City will be fighting to remain atop the Jayhawk standings. A 5:30 p.m. tip-off time slated for both contests.

Onugha finished with 29 points and 23 rebounds, 23 of the points and 17 rebounds coming in second half play alone, recording her 14th straight and 20th double-double of the year.

The performance also moved Onugha alone in the 3rd slot of both program single season and career rebound bests, surpassing the efforts of Taylor Regan in now trailing only Jenny Nkem Womsi and leader Inga Muciniece.

The Cougars' victory solidifies their third place standing improving to 13-5 and 19-5 overall to salvage the season series split as Pratt falls to 6-10 in the KJCCC with their two-game win streak ending sliding to 10-13 on the season.

Next is a two-game homestand of festivities beginning Wednesday hosting Seward County Community College on "Pink-Out Night" followed by Saturday's Hall of Fame Day welcoming Dodge City Community College. A 7:30 p.m. tip-off time slated for both contests.
