going to release him next week, just 18 months after signing the
quarterback to a five-year, $242 million contract extension. Wilson
went 11-19 in Denver. He had an awful first season under Nathaniel
Hackett, but bounced back last season under Sean Payton. However,
Payton benched Wilson for the final two games of the season. Wilson
is 35 years old and is entering his 13th NFL season in 2024.

Jason Kelce has retired after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia
Eagles. Kelce officially called it quits Monday at the Eagles’
NovaCare Complex. The 36-year-old ended a career in which he became
not only one of the great centers of his era who played a key role in
the franchise’s lone Super Bowl championship but a beloved Philly
personality and popular podcast host. Kelce was a sixth-round pick in
the 2011 draft. He ended his career by making 156 straight starts,
and he earned six All-Pro Team selections. He said it was always a
goal to play his whole career in one city. He played 193
regular-season games for the Eagles.

to skip the medical exams. Will the decisions of two players who do
not have agents begin a trend? That may not be clear till next year
when the combine returns to Indianapolis.

A person familiar with the deal says Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans
has agreed to a two-year, $52 million contract to remain with the
Buccaneers instead of testing his worth in free agency. The person
spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the
contract had not been finalized. ESPN first reported the agreement,
saying it includes $35 million guaranteed. The 30-year-old Evans is
the only player in NFL history to begin his career with 10
consecutive seasons with 1,000-plus yards receiving. He's also Tampa
Bay’s career leader in receptions, yardage and touchdowns. He tied
Tyreek Hill for the league lead in TD catches with 13, while
finishing with 79 receptions for 1,255 yards, in 2023.

Jalen Bridges scored a career-high 32 points and 11th-ranked Baylor
overcame a double-digit deficit in the final 13 minutes to beat Texas
93-85. It was the last scheduled game between the longtime rival
schools separated by only about 100 miles. Ja’Kobe Walter and RayJ
Dennis each had seven points in a 21-2 run for the 22-8 Bears during
a stretch when Texas missed 11 consecutive shots. The Longhorns also
lost big man Dylan Disu to a left knee sprain after he went down with
just over 11 minutes left. Dennis had 16 points and eight assists,
while Walter finished with 15 points. Max Abmas, the NCAA men’s
active career scoring leader, had a season-high 33 points to lead
19-11 Texas.

tangled up with a Baylor player. He grabbed at his left leg and put

Sports has announced that more than 10,000 athletes have accepted its
offer to have their likeness featured in its upcoming college
football video game. EA Sports began reaching out to college football
players in February to pay them to be featured in the game that’s
scheduled to launch this summer. The video-game developer said
players who opt in to the game will receive a minimum of $600 and a
copy of EA Sports College Football 25. There will also be
opportunities for them to earn money by promoting the game. EA Sports
says more than 11,000 athletes have been sent an offer.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) —
Oklahoma’s NCAA record win streak in softball ended at 71 games
with a 7-5 loss to Louisiana in eight innings. The Sooners claimed
their third straight national title last season, then won their first
18 games this season before losing to the Ragin' Cajuns on Sunday.
Louisiana (10-12) led 4-2 in the seventh before Oklahoma rallied to
force an extra inning. Louisiana’s Sam Roe singled in the eighth to
score two and gave the Ragin’ Cajuns a 7-4 lead. Louisiana's Chloe
Riassetto earned the win in a complete game.

A few breaks here and there, and hardware would have returned back to the hill but overall, it was another successful trip for the Barton Community College women's bowling team finishing fourth at the NJCAA National Championships held this past weekend at the Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing, Michigan.

Jasmine Bridges led a four pack of Cougars finishing inside the top-20 while becoming the third different Cougar to garner All-America honors as the sophomore finished eighth overall in the 97-participant field with a tournament total 2,142.

Compiling the third best pin count of 7.720 over three single, three doubles and three team games, Barton begin Saturday's final day action in hardware contention before ultimately dropping a spot in the final three team and trio of baker blocks concluding with the fourth best three-day total 11,645.

Claiming the team title was Rock Valley College accumulating a best mark of 12,233 while Hawkeye Community College finished runner-up with 11,925 pins and Iowa Western Community College rounding out the top-three with 11,754.

Jasmine Bridges, All-AmericaDespite compiling the team's fourth highest and 26th best 519 pin count in Thursday's opening singles event, Bridges produced her climb over the final six team games split between Friday and Saturday eclipsing the 200-mark in three of the six games with a best single game 230 in Friday's second match.

After recording the 8th highest three game singles score of 561, Allyson Heidenreich sustained the hot hand for Barton teaming up with Jaden Rabe for the 4th highest three game doubles score of 1,047 while staying steady over the final six games producing a 16th place 2,051, edging out Chailyn Scott's 17th place 2,021 total.

Olivia Oliver rounded out the top-20 placings for the Cougars carding a 12-game 2,008 landing 19th overall.

Barton women's bowling finishes fourth at NJCAA Championships

Oklahoma earned the top seed in the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship, held March 7-12 in Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center. The Sooners won the Big 12 regular season title outright, posting a 15-3 league record to finish one game ahead of No. 2 seed Texas.

No. 3 seed Kansas State (13-5) and No. 4 seed Iowa State (12-6) captured the final two double-byes into the quarterfinals, which take place Saturday, March 9. Iowa State, involved in a three-team tie at 12-6, earned the tiebreaker by virtue of a 2-1 record against Baylor (2-1 against tied teams) and West Virginia (1-3 against tied teams), then winning the head-to-head matchup with Baylor once West Virginia was dropped from the tiebreaking procedure.

The tiebreaking procedure resulted in Baylor receiving the No. 5 seed and West Virginia slotting into the No. 6 spot. Seeds Set For Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship

The Barton Community College men's bowling team wrapped up the season on Saturday settling for a 9th place finish at the NJCAA National Championships held at the Royal Scot Lanes in Lansing, Michigan.

Finishing inside the top-10 for the fifth straight year, the Cougars compressed a two-day total 11,996 accumulation over three singles, three doubles, six team and three baker blocks.

Logan Lindsley and Cole Brown led Barton's individual placings both securing top-20 performances in the 149-competitor field.

Lindley guided the Cougars squad finishing three spots outside All-America status with the 13th highest pin accumulation of 2,203. The freshman highlighted Saturday's singles action, producing the 29th best three game pin accumulation of 554.

Barton men's bowling places 5th at NJCAA Championships

Houston still has a tight grip on No. 1 in the AP Top 25.

The Cougars received 52 first-place votes from a 62-person media panel in the poll released Monday to hold the top spot for the second straight week.

UConn moved up a spot to No. 2 and had six first-place votes to leapfrog No. 3 Purdue, which had four first-place votes. Tennessee and Arizona rounded out the top five.

Houston moved to No. 1 for the first time this season a week ago and won both of its games last week: a 67-59 home win over Cincinnati and, thanks to Jamal Shead's last-second shot, a win at Oklahoma 87-85.

Houston is still leading the country in KenPom’s adjusted defensive efficiency despite giving up 85 points to the Sooners. The win allowed coach Kelvin Sampson to have a triumphant return to Norman, where he coached from 1994 to 2006.

UConn had a nice bounce back after being knocked from the No. 1 spot following a six-week run, blowing out Seton Hall 91-61 at home for its first outright Big East title in 25 years. The Huskies, the reigning national champions, had not won even a share of the Big East regular-season title in 18 years.

“The hardest thing to do is to be excellent over the course of three, four months in a brutal, hard league,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said.

Purdue dropped a spot despite an 80-74 win over Michigan State that clinched a share of a second straight Big Ten title. The Boilermakers have a two-game lead with two games left.

Kansas spent the first three weeks at No. 1 and has been in the top 10 for three years.

Consecutive losses last week ended the Jayhawks' run.

Kansas fell seven spots to No. 14 in this week's poll, its worst ranking since hitting No. 15 midway through the 2020-21 season. The Jayhawks were in the top 10 for 55 straight weeks, which had been the longest active streak. Houston now has the longest active top-10 run at 36 straight weeks.

Losses to No. 20 BYU and No. 11 Baylor ensured Kansas can't win the Big 12 regular-season title. The Jayhawks have seven conference losses for the first time in 21 years under coach Bill Self.

No. 15 Baylor and No. 19 Gonzaga had the biggest climbs among teams in the poll this week, each moving up four spots. No. 23 Saint Mary's had the biggest drop, losing six places after Gonzaga ended the Gaels' 16-game winning streak.

BYU moved back into the poll after dropping out last week, coming in at No. 20 after wins over Kansas and TCU. Florida dropped out from No. 24 after losing at No. 17 South Carolina.

The Southeastern Conference and the Big 12 each have five ranked teams after BYU re-entered the poll and Florida dropped out.

The Big East has three, followed by the Big Ten, Atlantic Coast, Pac-12, Mountain West and West Coast conferences with two. The Atlantic 10 and AAC each have one.

Having already clinched a share of the conference title, Saturday evening at the Barton Gym the Barton Community College men's basketball team continued its greediness by winning its 19th straight in claiming the outright crown behind a 91-78 victory over 15th ranked Hutchinson Community College.

Barton increased its four-point halftime lead with an early 7-0 run to push the margin into double digits, keeping the Blue Dragons at arms reach the rest of the way to win its 5th straight in the series.

The Cougars improve to 22-1 in league and 28-1 overall while Hutchinson slips back to third place at 19-4 and 24-5 overall.

With one game left in the regular season, Barton wraps up play Tuesday in a 7:30 p.m. tip at Colby Community College. The Cougars will then have first round post-season bye in sitting a week before hosting quarterfinal action Tuesday, March 12.

Six Cougars reached the double digit mark led by Lajae Jones's 19 points and 14 rebounds, six on the offensive glass, to post his 12th double-double while dishing out a team second best 4 assists.

Ring Malith drained 3-of-7 behind the arc for 15 points while Cooper Jackson led Barton's 14 total steals in forcing 20 Blue Dragon turnovers with a career tying 8 steals with a 6-of-9 from the field including a pair of triples in tallying 14 points.

Leading the bench play was Brent Moss' 14 points and 8 rebounds, Myles Thompson added 12 points, and Mozae Downing-Rivers again posted a solid all-around game with a season best 12 points, a team leading 6 assists, and creating a trio of steals.

Valentino Simon's 11th double-double of the year led the Blue Dragons playing with its leading scorer Kamryn Thomas in putting up 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Kobe Smith and Russell Branch each added 13 points as Landon Wagler's 11 points helped Hutchinson outscore Barton's bench by five.

Twelve games deep into the schedule, the Barton Community College softball team got to enjoy home field for the first time on Saturday with the Cougars splitting results with Colby Community College in conference action.

Barton scored in all but one inning to take game one 10-7 with the Trojans' salvaging the doubleheader winning 12-9.

The KJCCC result leaves Barton at 4-2 in league and 6-8 overall with Colby remaining at .500 moving to 4-4 and 8-12 on the season.

Barton remains at home for its next contest coming on Wednesday hosting current league leader Seward County Community College (4-0, 8-8) in a 1:00 p.m. first pitch doubleheader.

Getting a career high nine strikeouts from Brooklynn Angielski improving to 4-4 on the year, the Cougars collected 12 hits lead by the 3-of-4 performance of Elina Bartlett including the freshman's first collegiate home run leading off the fourth frame sparking a then-game tying three-run frame.

Bartlett followed the opener going 2-of-5 in the nightcap with three more runs batted in, a pair crossing on a bases loaded single with the third capping a four-run rally as the Cougars would strand the tying run at the plate.

Leslie Ramos joined Bartlett with a pair of multiple hit games, collecting two in each contest and adding a pair of stolen bases.

Barton Softball opens home slate with twin bill split hosting Colby

LAS VEGAS (AP) —
Kyle Larson won his second consecutive race at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway on Sunday to keep keep Chevrolet undefeated and give
Hendrick Motorsports its second victory in the first three NASCAR Cup
Series races of the season. Larson won for the third time in his
career at Las Vegas, where in 2021 he got his first win driving for
Hendrick following a nearly yearlong suspension in 2020. Larson also
won in the No. 5 Chevy at Las Vegas last October in the playoffs.
Larson held off Tyler Reddick for his 24th career Cup victory.
Chevrolet also has wins this year by Larson teammate William Byron in
the Daytona 500 and Daniel Suarez last week at Atlanta for Trackhouse
Racing.

PALM BEACH GARDENS,
Fla. (AP) — Austin Eckroat left PGA National with a share of the
lead on Saturday. He left with the outright lead on Sunday. He’ll
have to come back Monday to finish the job. A Monday finish awaits at
PGA National, after the final round of the opening event on the PGA
Tour’s Florida Swing was interrupted by thunderstorms that brought
nearly 2 inches of rain in a hurry Sunday afternoon and forced
everyone off the course for 3 1/2 hours. Eckroat is the leader at 15
under through seven holes, one shot ahead of Erik van Rooyen.

Caitlin Clark of Iowa has become the all-time NCAA Division I scoring
leader, breaking the late Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record when
she made two free throws after a technical foul was called in the No.
6 Hawkeyes’ 93-83 win over No. 2 Ohio State. Clark finished with 35
points. She entered the game needing 18 to pass Maravich’s total of
3,667, which he amassed in just 83 games over three seasons at LSU.
Maravich’s record fell four days after Clark broke Lynette
Woodard’s major college women’s record when she scored 33 points
against Minnesota.

UNDATED (AP) —
Chris Mortensen, the award-winning journalist who covered the NFL for
close to four decades, including 32 as a senior analyst at ESPN, died
Sunday morning. He was 72. ESPN confirmed Mortensen’s death on
Sunday. There was no immediate word on the cause or place of death.
Mortensen announced in 2016 that he he had been diagnosed with throat
cancer. Even while undergoing treatment, he was the first to confirm
the retirement of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. Mortensen
announced his retirement after the NFL draft last year so that he
could “focus on my health, family and faith.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) —
The U.S. national team rebounded from its loss to Mexico with a 3-0
victory over Colombia to advance to the semifinals of the CONCACAF

— With Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, the Los
Angeles Dodgers have quite the trio at the top of their batting
order. That’s a tough start for any pitcher. Betts and Ohtani each
had three hits and Freeman drove in two runs during their spring
training game against the Colorado Rockies in Glendale, Arizona.
Betts is 7 for 17 so far this spring, and Ohtani is 5 for 7 in
limited action. Chris Sale also is looking pretty good in his first

Kyle Larson won his second consecutive race at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway on Sunday to keep keep Chevrolet undefeated and give
Hendrick Motorsports its second victory in the first three NASCAR Cup
Series races of the season. Larson won for the third time in his
career at Las Vegas, where in 2021 he got his first win driving for
Hendrick following a nearly yearlong suspension in 2020. Larson also
won in the No. 5 Chevy at Las Vegas last October in the playoffs.
Larson held off Tyler Reddick for his 24th career Cup victory.
Chevrolet also has wins this year by Larson teammate William Byron in
the Daytona 500 and Daniel Suarez last week at Atlanta for Trackhouse

nearly 2 inches of rain in a hurry Sunday afternoon and forced

Caitlin Clark of Iowa has become the all-time NCAA Division I scoring
leader, breaking the late Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record when
she made two free throws after a technical foul was called in the No.
6 Hawkeyes’ 93-83 win over No. 2 Ohio State. Clark finished with 35
points. She entered the game needing 18 to pass Maravich’s total of
3,667, which he amassed in just 83 games over three seasons at LSU.

Chris Mortensen, the award-winning journalist who covered the NFL for
close to four decades, including 32 as a senior analyst at ESPN, died
Sunday morning. He was 72. ESPN confirmed Mortensen’s death on
Sunday. There was no immediate word on the cause or place of death.
Mortensen announced in 2016 that he he had been diagnosed with throat
cancer. Even while undergoing treatment, he was the first to confirm
the retirement of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. Mortensen
announced his retirement after the NFL draft last year so that he

The Barton Community College wrestling team had its season end after two rounds Friday afternoon at the 2024 NJCAA National Championships held inside the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Representing the Cougars at the national meet would be lone and first-time national qualifier Charles Neuman (165 pounds).

Facing a tall task drawing 13th seeded Cole Pfeufer of Bergen in the round of 32 following an opening round bye, Neuman's first turn on the big stage resulted in suffering an 11-3 major decision bouncing the freshman to the consolation side.

Trying to keep the season alive in the consolation round of 16, Neuman's freshman campaign would end dropping a 14-1 major decision to Caleb Marx of Snow College concluding his season at 3-7 overall.

Neuman closes Barton wrestling season at NJCAA National Tournament

By TODD MOORE Barton Sports Info The Barton Community College women's track and field team captured the College's 59th national title on Saturday at the 2024 NJCAA Indoor National Championships held in Gainesville, Florida.

Aside from the 2003 volleyball team, the track and field and cross country programs have earned the other 58 team national titles with the women's squad accounting for their 19th crown within the indoor season.

Barton held a ten point lead into the final event of the two-day meet at the Alachua County Sports &amp; Events Center following Sanae Hassnaoui's third individual title after the freshman captured the 1000m run with a program 3rd best time. Previously bettering her program mile run record to also break the meet record set in 1993 by Barton alum Janice Turner, Hassnaoui added another program record with a NJCAA 4th fastest 3000m time breaking Turner's 1993 record. The three crowns were joined by fellow freshmen's Keliza Smith's 60m and Chloe Perryman's long jump titles, along with, sophomore Treneese Hamilton's meet and program record shot put throw that ranks 2nd in NJCAA all-time.

The Cougars placed out of the points in the last 4X400m relay event as Iowa Western Community College rose to the challenge in winning the event by two seconds earning the title clinching ten points.

Each squad finished with 106 accumulated points in sharing the crown, forty-two points ahead of third place New Mexico Junior College.

On the men's side the Cougars gave chase to national hardware but was outpointed down the stretch in placing 4th overall with 70 points, four points behind South Plains for third. Indian Hills won the program's first national title behind a 91.50 accumulation with New Mexico placing runner-up with 84 points.

Highlighting the men's performances were the national titles on Saturday from Christopher Young in the weight throw moving into the program top ten list and Trevon Hamer in the triple jump title.  Although not winning titles, Jeramiah Martin was national 60m hurdler runner-up with a program 5th fastest time, Hamza Belkhalfi bettered his program 4th best all-time in placing 4th in the 800m field, and the distance medley relay team finished 7th with a program 4th fastest clocking coming from the relay pool of Belkhalfi, Corlando Chambers, Adrian Nethersole, Jaden Howell, and Jasiah Clapp.

On the women's side, Smith crossed runner-up in the 200m moving from 9th to 5th program all-time, Jazmine Williamson tying the winning high jump height but settling for silver based on attempts, and Hamilton's second place in the weight throw moving from 6th to 3rd on the all-time chart.

Barton women's track and field captures NJCAA Team Title, Men place 4th overall

<a href="https://www.bartonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/gomez_cesar_0shv">Cesar Gomez</a>&nbsp;walk-off two run single in the bottom of the ninth Saturday afternoon lifted the Barton Community College baseball team to a three-game sweep over North Iowa Area Community College at Lawson-Biggs Field.

The fifth straight victory moves the Cougars to 11-4 on the season while the seventh straight loss drops the Trojans to 5-9 overall.

Barton now sets their sights to Thursday's conference opening 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against Butler Community College to conclude the seven game homestand before closing out the four-game set Saturday in El Dorado.

Holding a 6-3 lead through six innings, the NIACC bats got to the Cougar bullpen in the top of the seventh with four runs to take a 7-6 lead while extending it with a run in the top of the eighth.

Held 0-for-4 coming to bat in the home eighth with two on,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bartonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/bolin_robby_wna2">Robby Bolin</a>&nbsp;delivered the first of two key late inning Barton hits roping a game tying two-out triple down the left field line extending his hit streak to 12-straight games.

Outhitting the Cougars 15-9, the Trojans would load the bases with one-out in the top of the ninth as a sacrifice fly pushed in the go-ahead run, 9-8.

<a href="https://www.bartonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/nottlemann_grant_fpje">Grant Nottlemann</a>'s leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth caused havoc on the NIACC defense advancing two bases on the third Trojan error of the game permitting the go-ahead run in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bartonsports.com/sports/bsb/2023-24/bios/cotton_jaron_73l7">Jaron Cotton</a>&nbsp;to reach. Producing the Cougars first two runs of the game with his first collegiate double in the second inning, Gomez played heroic again with one-out in the ninth distributing the walk-off two run single.

Lukosius finished with 13 points. Perry hit a straight-away 3 late in the shot clock that made it 72-71 with 1:16 left — Kansas State’s first lead since 8-5. Neither team scored again until Lukosius came around a screen, caught a pass from Jizzle James at hit the winner. Perry lost the ball out of bounds under the basket with 2.7 seconds to go. Taiyanna Jackson had her 40th career double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Jayhawks enhanced their NCAA resume with a third Top 25 win and their eighth win in the last nine games. Payton Verhulst had 22 points for Oklahoma. The Big 12 tournament starts on Thursday but Oklahoma doesn’t play until Saturday. Kansas plays on Friday.

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — Serena Sundell and Gabby Gregory scored 13 points apiece and No. 15 Kansas State cruised by Texas Tech 73-49 in both team’s regular-season finale on Saturday. Ayoka Lee added 11 points and Brylee Glenn 10 for the Wildcats, who snapped a two-game skid. Bailey Maupin scored 17 points and Jasmine Shavers 14 for the Lady Raiders, who lost their ninth straight. Kansas State took a 12-6 first-quarter lead then used a 20-3 run over four-plus minutes to lead by 24 before going into halftime ahead 36-17. The Wildcats led by 20 after three quarters and never let the Lady Raiders get closer than 17 in the final period.

Ayoka Lee added 11 points and Brylee Glenn 10 for the Wildcats, who snapped a two-game skid. Bailey Maupin scored 17 points and Jasmine Shavers 14 for the Lady Raiders, who lost their ninth straight. Kansas State took a 12-6 first-quarter lead then used a 20-3 run over four-plus minutes to lead by 24 before going into halftime ahead 36-17.
