Great Bend High School bowling coach David Feldbauer said Friday's Class 5A state championships at Northrock Lanes in Wichita would be a completely different outcome than last week's third-place regional finish in Hutchinson. He hit the nail on the hand. The Lady Panthers finished with 2,996 total pins to beat Goddard-Eisenhower by 115 pins for a second straight Class 5A state championship.

Eisenhower's Olyvia Choura won the individual title with a 674 series, including a 278 to open the tournament. St. James' Taylor Brim followed with games of 235 and 246 to finish second with a 642. Lady Panther senior Kaylin Wahlmeier placed fourth with a 613, missing third by just six pins. Wahlmeier topped out at 231 pins and also rolled games of 199 and 183.

Senior Emilee Nelson bowled games of 200 and 197, rounding out the top 10 with a 578. She tied the ninth-place bowler and missed fifth place by just 10 pins. Zoey Mayberry rolled games of 204 and 189 to place 13th with a 565 series. Paige Heine added 63 pins to her previous high on the day, finishing with a 218 to move to 26th with a 518. Brooklynn Mayberry opened with a 169 and went on to place 51st with a 448. Rionna Rodriguez had a 171 middle game and finished 58th with a 426. 

Great Bend finished with 682 pins in the four Baker games to beat Goddard-Eisenhower by 81 pins. Consistent across the board, the girls rolled games of 170, 164, 172, and 176.

The Barton Community College softball team picked up a big road win in the opener of Thursday's doubleheader at 14th ranked Butler Community College but fell short of the sweep on a cold and windy day in El Dorado.

Winning the first game 10-4 powered by a 6-run fifth frame, the Cougars earned their first victory in El Dorado since 2019 in snapping a 7-game streak. Barton's bid to sweep fell short as a deciding 5-run first frame of the nightcap built Barton a hole that Butler filled in completely with a 3-run fifth to end it on a 10-2 score.

The KJCCC result leaves both teams at 3-1 in league, Barton moving to 5-7 on the season while Butler moves to 11-3 overall.

UNDATED (AP) — A
new set of rules for the block/charge call in college basketball has
helped open up the game. Defenders can no longer slide in front of a
driving player and expect to get a call. A charge now is only called
if the defender is in position before the driving player has planted
a foot to go airborne. After a bit of an early-season learning curve,
players have gotten the hang of the new rule. Scoring so far is up
more than two points per game across the sport and two teams are
averaging more than 90. Officials also have remained relatively
consistent with the calls, even into conference season.

name, image and likeness compensation being offered to recruits it
would make an unmanageable situation even worse. Those who work with
the booster-funded organizations called collectives say lifting those
rules will bring much-needed clarity. Last week, a Tennessee judge
granted a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit against the NCAA. The
association is still trying to sort out what exactly it means, but
most who work on NIL deals for college athletes believes they will be
able to operate more freely.

season and enter the WNBA draft. Clark made the announcement Thursday
on social media. She is 18 points away from passing LSU’s Pete
Maravich for the all-time NCAA Division I record for men or women
with 3,650 career points. She broke Lynette Woodard’s major college
scoring record on Wednesday. Clark is expected to be the top pick in
the draft on April 15. The Indiana Fever, who have the first pick,
indicated on social media shortly after Clark's announcement that
they intend to select her.

Maravich as the all-time scorer in NCAA basketball history.
Maravich's son Jaeson calls Clark a fantastic player who's been great
for basketball. He says he will always consider her scoring mark
separate” from his father's. Clark needs 18 points to eclipse
Maravich's mark of 3,667 in what would he her 130th game over four
seasons. Freshman couldn't play varsity basketball when Maravich
arrived at LSU in 1966. He averaged 44.2 points over 83 games during

play on the field, rather than the behavior of its officials. Spain
followed up its Women’s World Cup win in August with victory in the
inaugural Women’s Nations League on Wednesday and this time the
talk in Spain was about the great performances of the team and not
about an unwanted kiss that ruined the team’s World Cup title
celebrations. The kiss by former soccer federation president Luis
Rubiales on the lips of player Jenni Hermoso during the World Cup
awards ceremony sparked widespread outrage in Spain.

PALM BEACH GARDENS,
Fla. (AP) — Chad Ramey’s first two trips to PGA National as a
professional were largely forgettable. He might have a chance to
change that this week. Ramey shot a bogey-free round of 7-under 64 on
Thursday in the opening round of the Cognizant Classic in the Palm
Beaches. He was tied with S.H. Kim for the 18-hole lead. Kim had an
eagle and five birdies. They were both one stroke up on Cameron

16. The Phillies said the change was made based on the organization’s
ongoing commitment to provide a positive experience for all fans in
attendance. Some Phillies fans last season threw hot dogs throughout
the ballpark.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt admitted Wednesday the Super Bowl champions are overdue for renovations to their practice facilities after the NFL Players Association's annual report card graded Kansas City the second-worst team in the league overall.

Hunt had just unveiled plans for an $800 million renovation to Arrowhead Stadium that would include plenty of amenities for fans — but little for players — when he was asked about the report card. The NFLPA has produced it the past two years based on surveys of players in an attempt to improve overall working conditions around the league.

The report card gave the Chiefs, who will go for a third straight Super Bowl title and fourth in six years next season, failing grades for their nutritionist/dietician, locker room and training staff. Hunt was given an F-minus as the owner of the franchise, and “a rating of 4.9/10 from Chiefs players when considering his willingness to invest in the facilities.”

“I have not had a chance to see the report,” Hunt told a small group of reporters after the stadium presentation in Kansas City. “I mentioned the practice facility is something we're going to continue to think about. It's coming up on 20 years. We've certainly in a lot of ways outgrown it and we recognize we need to expand it and modernize it.”

Hunt pointed out that the Chiefs recently renovated the locker rooms at Arrowhead Stadium, but those in the nearby training complex remain untouched. Most of the rest of the facility likewise has gone unchanged over the years.

Kansas City also received a D for its training room and team travel, a D-plus for treatment of families and C-minus for food and cafeteria. Its weighted score put it 31st ahead of only the Commanders, who received failing grades for team travel and training staff and an F-minus grade for its locker room and training room..

“The one bright spot for the team is head coach Andy Reid, who was the highest-rated head coach in the NFL,” the survey said of the Chiefs. “Other than that, the players are frustrated by their workplace offerings, especially after the team’s sustained success in recent years. The responses identify major issues in two areas: quality of care and out-of-date facilities."

NFLPA president JC Tretter said more than 77% of active players responded to the survey.

At the top of the rankings were the Miami Dolphins, who had no grade lower than an A-minus in any category and received the highest weighted score of any team. The Minnesota Vikings had no grade lower than a B and had the second-best score.

“The (Dolphins’) state-of-the-art facilities continue to impress," the report said, “but more importantly, are complemented by the number of quality trainers, strength coaches and other support staff who help make the workplace experience one of the best across the league.”

Rounding out the top five in weighted score were the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars.

At the bottom of the ranking were the Washington Commanders. When their players were asked what issues were most important to fix, the report said, “most players couldn’t come up with just one.”

“Instead, the common answer was the entire facility," the report said. "The players understand that the new club ownership didn’t create these current problems, and they are hopeful that the new team ownership is willing to do what it takes to fix them.”

This was the first year that the survey included grades for head coaches, owners and dietician/nutritionist.

More than half of head coaches received an A-minus or better, including A-plus grades for Reid, the Lions' Matt Campbell and the Vikings' Kevin O’Connell. The lowest grade was a D for the Raiders' Josh McDaniels, who has&nbsp;since been fired.

Owners who received A-plus grades were the Dolphins' Stephen Ross and the Vikings' Zygi Wilf. Along with Hunt, the Steelers' Art Rooney II and the Cardinals' Michael Bidwill also received F-minus grades.

The NFLPA worked with Statler Nagle and Artemis Strategy Group on the survey. Players were surveyed between Aug. 26 and Nov. 16 of last year. Answers were collected anonymously.

“Progress rarely comes as fast as you would like,” Tretter said, “but we are encouraged by how many teams made substantial improvements in the wake of last year’s results. Overall, players responded to those changes positively, which is reflected in many of the grades for those clubs.”

Chiefs owner gets 'F-minus' grade from NFLPA, says team needs to improve facilities

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jets general manager Joe Douglas says the team took notice of Super Bowl star Mecole Hardman saying on a podcast he told the Kansas City Chiefs to “come get me” while he was disgruntled in New York earlier this season.

“I’ll just say those comments definitely resonated with us,” Douglas told reporters Wednesday at the NFL combine.

The wide receiver, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Chiefs, signed with the Jets last March as a free agent. He struggled to find a role in New York's offense after quarterback Aaron Rodgers was lost for the season with a torn left Achilles tendon. Hardman also was beat out for the primary punt return role by undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson.

Hardman had just one catch for 6 yards in five games with the Jets. He was critical of the team during an interview on “The Pivot” podcast hosted by former NFL star safety and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark.

Leading into New York's game against Kansas City in Week 4, Hardman says he was “so checked out, like, it was over with.” He added he had already spoken to both Chiefs GM Brett Veach and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

"Like, 'come get me,’” Hardman said he told them.

It was not immediately certain if the Jets would pursue possible tampering charges with the NFL against the Chiefs.

The Jets traded Hardman and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft to the Chiefs three weeks later for a 2025 sixth-rounder.

On Tuesday night, Hardman tried to clarify his comments on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Never had talks with KC before the trade, so we can CLEAR THAT UP!” Hardman wrote. “The Jets handled my trade on their own and did the right thing by sending me back to KC!”

Hardman caught the winning touchdown pass from Mahomes in overtime, helping Kansas City beat San Francisco 25-22 in the Super Bowl this month.

the high school senior wrestlers who have accepted their invitation
to take the mat in the inaugural KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals.  The
wrestlers who were selected, and accepted their invitation, will
compete during the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals on Sunday, March 17th,
2024 at Fugate Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in

Kansas- The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association (KWCA) has announced
the high school senior wrestlers who have accepted their invitation
to take the mat in the inaugural KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals. The
wrestlers who were selected, and accepted their invitation, will
compete during the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals on Sunday, March 17th,
2024 at Fugate Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in
Wichita, Kansas. Gates open at 2:30 pm and the opening ceremonies
will begin at 3:15 pm. Tickets and advertising opportunities are

Panther fans needed some respite following the Great Bend boys' thrilling win against Bishop Carroll Monday night to open the Class 5A playoffs. The Lady Panthers delivered. At least for most of the night. Great Bend led by 17 points with 13 seconds to play in the third quarter. Salina Central battled back and even had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds before coming up short 46-42. 

"I think they just came out and, at that point, they were ready to take over," said Lady Panther senior Emily Hall. "I don't think we were ready for the pressure they brought but I'm glad we were able to find a way to handle it later and finish that fourth quarter for the win."

Hall finished the night with 13 points, but it was her passing game that led to points in the second half. Her assist to senior Sadie Spray with 13 ticks left in the third pushed the Panther lead to 35-18. Central answered with a bounce-in 3-pointer at the buzzer from senior Callan Hall, one of the last players off the Lady Mustang bench. Great Bend was still in command at 35-21 with a quarter to play.

Central got threes from senior Elle Denning and senior Tyler Vidrickson to cap a 9-0 run in a 53-second span to dip into the Panther lead at 35-23 with 7:10 remaining. Hall answered with two more assists to Spray, and senior Makenzie Premer dropped a pass to Hall to bump the lead back to 41-29 with 3:06 remaining.

The Lady Mustangs scored just 21 points through the first three quarters and matched that in the final eight minutes behind seven Panther turnovers. A late turnover resulted in a 3-pointer from Vidrickson to whittle the Great Bend lead to 44-40 with just 21 seconds left. 

Hall made one of two free throws on the other end but Central was able to get two points and another turnover in the final seconds to set up a potential game-tying shot. Fortunately, the Mustangs gave it right back, resulting in a Premer free throw make with 0.3 seconds left on the clock to ice the game for good.

Great Bend stormed out to a 15-3 lead in the first six minutes of action thanks to six points apiece from Hall and Spray and a 3-pointer from senior Paige Thexton in the first. Spray was sidelined for most of the second quarter with a second personal foul late in the first.

Central remained competitive in the second quarter in part after grabbing six of the first seven rebound opportunities in the period. Hall turned that around with seven of her eight rebounds on the night coming in the middle quarters.

"It finally clicked that their shots were going long each time and you had to push them back further," Hall said. "They weren't dropping right under the basket. They were going long. They're used to rebounding that way and we're not used to that. Once we were able to figure it out, it really did turn around the game for us."

Denning, Hall, and Saniya Triplett each scored eight points for Salina Central, and Denning grabbed six rebounds.

Spray scored seven of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Denver Ringo added six points, and Thexton and Premer each scored three points.

Great Bend moves to 15-6 on the season ahead of Saturday's substate championship in Emporia on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Spartans (20-1) defeated the Lady Panthers 43-29 on Dec. 15. Emporia defeated Topeka West 65-35 in their first-round playoff game Wednesday.

"It was a good game but we weren't ready for that type of pressure," Hall said. "We've really grown throughout this season and I think we're ready to take them on again."

Lady Panthers never trail against Central in 5A playoff opener

— Kansas football coach Lance Leipold signed an amended contract
that increased his overall compensation to more than $40 million
through the 2029 season. The contract does not extend the previous
deal, but it does feature a substantial bump in salary from the $5
million Leipold made last season, when he led the Jayhawks to a 9-4
record and a victory in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. Leipold was linked
to several openings this offseason, including Washington, but
ultimately decided to stay at Kansas, where school officials have
begun to invest heavily in the Jayhawks’ football program. That
includes a new football stadium under construction.

Recent incidents in college basketball have underscored the potential
dangers that come from jubilant fans storming the court after the
game comes to an end. Finding a solution is proving to be a
challenge. Duke center Kyle Filipowski and Iowa star Caitlin Clark
both got caught in scary incidents recently. The incidents have
prompted a renewed scrutiny on protecting visiting teams. Duke coach
Jon Scheyer has called on immediate measures by the Atlantic Coast
Conference to prevent court storming. Stopping such often-impromptu
celebrations is easier said than done, especially with most student
sections so close to the court.

College Football Playoff officials are considering a 14-team model
that would guarantee multiple automatic bids for each of the four
power conferences, starting in 2026. Two people with direct knowledge
of the discussions told The Associated Press the format being
discussed would guarantee three playoff spots each for the Big Ten
and Southeastern Conference, two for the Atlantic Coast Conference
and Big 12 and one for the highest-ranked team from the Group of Five
leagues. The two people spoke on condition of anonymity the CFP
management committee's talks were not being made public.

win to tighten the Big 12 Conference standings with one game left.
Brown, a freshman from Derby, Kansas, had 11 points in the fourth
quarter, including three free throws in the last minute, and finished
9 of 13 from the field to help the Cyclones become the first team
this season to shoot 50% against the Wildcats. Freshman Audi Crooks
had 14 points and seven rebounds for Iowa State. Ayoka Lee had 20
points and eight rebounds for Kansas State, which had its 17-game
home winning streak snapped. The Wildcats allow just 56.3 points a
game, on 35% shooting, 25.8% from 3-point range. The Cyclone made 5
of 15 behind the arc and 33 of 66 overall.

AMES, Iowa (AP) —
Demarion Watson hit all seven of his field goal attempts for 15
points and also had nine rebounds to lead No. 8 Iowa State to a 58-45
win over Oklahoma. Curtis Jones added 11 points as the Cyclones won
their 17th straight home game and for the sixth time in their last
seven games. Rivaldo Soares had nine points to lead the Sooners, who
have now lost three of their last four. It was the last scheduled
meeting between the teams as Oklahoma heads to the SEC next year.

STILLWATER, Okla.
(AP) — Darius Johnson scored 17 points, Jaylin Sellers scored 10 of
his 12 points in the second half, and UCF beat Oklahoma State 77-71
for its second Big 12 road win in eight attempts this season. UCF
(15-12, 6-9), coming off a 75-61 win over No. 23 Texas Tech on
Saturday, won back-to-back conference games for the first time this
season. Johnson sank a jumper early in the second half to give UCF
its first lead of the game at 43-42. Ibrahima Diallo added a dunk on
UCF’s next possession for a 7-0 start to the second half. Oklahoma
State guard Quion Williams had a layup attempt roll off and C.J.
Walker grabbed the defensive rebound before making 1 of 2 free throws
with 35.8 seconds left for a 71-67 lead.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) —
Caitlin Clark has another career record on her astounding resume: the
most points by any major college women’s player to ever take the
court. Iowa’s superstar guard scored 33 points to lead the
sixth-ranked Hawkeyes in a romp at Minnesota and move one point past
Lynette Woodard on the all-time list with 3,650 points. Clark buried
her eighth 3-pointer of the game with 4:17 left to pass Woodard. She
also set the NCAA single-season record for 3-pointers in the process
to reach 156 in 2023-24.

TOKYO (AP) —
Baseball star Shohei Ohtani has announced on social media he is
married. He's written on Instagram in Japanese, “The season is
approaching but I would like to announce to everyone that I have
gotten married.” He says his new wife is a “Japanese woman”
without identifying her. He says he will reveal more in an interview
on Friday. He's asked media to refrain from “conducting
unauthorized interviews.” The two-way star joined the Los Angeles
Dodgers in December on a $700 million, 10-year contract. The
29-year-old Ohtani is Japan’s biggest celebrity, and there has
always been curiosity around his personal life, which he has always
kept very private. His focus, and his image, has always been
100%-baseball focused — free of scandals or tabloid news.

Thursday Sports Headlines and Scores presented by Barton Community College

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs are planning an $800 million renovation to Arrowhead Stadium, the third-oldest stadium in the NFL, that would begin after the team plays host to games for the 2026 World Cup and take about four years to complete.

The project is contingent on the extension of a tax of three-eighth of a cent by voters in Jackson County, Missouri, on April 2. That money has been used for upkeep at Truman Sports Complex of Arrowhead and neighboring Kauffman Stadium, which the Royals intend to leave for a new downtown ballpark before the current lease expires after the 2030 season.

“We would not be willing to sign a lease for another 25 years without the financing to properly renovate and reimagine the stadium,” acknowledged Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt, whose family would contribute $300 million toward the overall project. “So the financing puzzle is very important to us to make sure we have enough funds to do everything we've outlined.”

The scope of the renovation project, which was revealed Wednesday during a news conference at Arrowhead, would touch every aspect of the 52-year-old building, from the seating bowl to luxury amenities to the tailgating scene.

There would be a new parking deck built to help provide players, VIPs and other special guests with a better access point. New pedestrian bridges would help fans get from parking lots to the stadium. There would be new ribbon boards, the video boards at each end would triple and quadruple in size and the existing suites around the stadium would be renovated.

The two biggest changes to the stadium itself would come above it and below it.

For the first time since the stadium was built in 1972, the Chiefs are planning to build a 360-degree upper concourse, which would allow fans to more easily flow around the stadium. It would also create more food stations, restrooms and merchandise areas, and that would alleviate congestion elsewhere in the stadium.

In the end zones, the Chiefs are planning to excavate under the existing structure to create club spaces similar to those found at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where the Raiders play and the Chiefs recently won their third Super Bowl in the past five years.

“You sit on the field level of Allegiant Stadium and see that amazing end zone suite they have, and you say: ‘Wow. Too bad we can’t do that,'” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said. “We found a way to do that, and not only bring you the best of the newest buildings in the NFL, but put it inside the iconic Arrowhead Stadium.”

Another big change would come outside the stadium, where the Chiefs envision a tailgating plaza built on the site of Kauffman Stadium. The covered area would provide a gathering space on game day but also could be used year-round for events.

The original plan for the Truman Sports Complex called for a rolling roof that could cover Arrowhead and Kauffman stadiums, but the structure was never built. The Chiefs revisited the idea of a roof over Arrowhead roughly two decades ago, when it underwent its last major renovation, but the public was skeptical of the project and the idea ultimately was scrapped.

Even though a roof conceivably could help Kansas City play host to the Super Bowl, Hunt said Wednesday it was never seriously considered for this round of renovations — and in fact, the team prefers to play outdoors in the elements.

“We certainly feel like it's a competitive advantage for us,” he said.

The Chiefs also considered a mixed-use development around Arrowhead, where there are few restaurants, hotels and entertainment options. But studies found that such an investment would not provide a positive financial return.

“This is not a location that is not worthy of developing,” Donovan said, “as harsh as that sounds.”

So, the scope of the project was narrowed to Arrowhead itself. Hunt said the goal is to maintain its history and mystique while providing fans with the amenities found in more modern stadiums across the NFL.

Myles Thompson of the top ranked Barton Community College men's basketball team has been tabbed as the Week 14 Division I KJCCC Player of the Week.

Thompson nearly recorded his sixth double-double of the season in Barton's lone game of the week. Thompson finished with 15 points on 46.6 percent shooting with some key buckets down the stretch, but none bigger than his fourth offensive and ninth rebound hauled in forcing the Broncbusters to foul late. Going unnoticed on the stat sheet, the sophomore also drew a late game player control foul as the then-2nd ranked Cougars ran their winning streak to 17-straight with a 70-68 win.

The award marks Thompson's second of the year and the teams fifth overall award.

Two games up with three to play in the conference standings at 20-1, Barton has one regular season home contest left in between a pair of road contests in the hunt for its first conference title since the 2008-09 season.

The Cougars' quest for the title with the nation's top ranked bullseye attached begins Wednesday in a 7:30 p.m. tip at Dodge City Community College, a contest if victorious would secure at least a share of the title.

Thompson garners Week 14 KJCCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs are releasing wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Wednesday, giving the Super Bowl champions some much-needed salary cap flexibility.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the Chiefs had not announced the move, which would save $12 million that they could use to shore up their offense or help keep defensive stars Chris Jones and L'Jarius Sneed next season.

The Chiefs gave Valdes-Scantling a three-year, $30 million deal two years ago in the hopes that Patrick Mahomes could turn the former Packers wide receiver into a viable deep threat. But while Valdes-Scantling had memorable moments in Kansas City, including a TD catch in the Super Bowl, he was plagued by dropped passes and never put up the numbers the Chiefs expected of him.

He had 42 catches for 687 yards and two scores in 2022 and only 21 catches for 315 yards and a touchdown this past season.

The release of Valdes-Scantling was widely expected given his overall lack of production and the other needs faced by the Chiefs as they retool their roster and begin pursuit of an NFL-record third consecutive Lombardi Trophy.

The Chiefs' defense, which largely shut down the 49ers in the Super Bowl, has several important pieces hitting free agency, headlined by Jones and Sneed. General manager Brett Veach said at the NFL scouting combine the team could use the franchise tag on one — Sneed is the more likely candidate — but that the Chiefs would try to secure long-term deals with both of them.

The deadline to use the franchise tag is Tuesday. If the Chiefs use it on Jones or Sneed but cannot work out a long-term deal with them, there is also the possibility that Kansas City would trade them for draft compensation.

“You’d like to be able to tag all the guys and pay all the guys, and it’s tough, because the more you win the more you have to pay players,” Veach said Tuesday. "And obviously, when you have this amount of success, you’re paying players a lot of money.”

Among the Chiefs' other free agents on the defense, safety Mike Edwards became an important player alongside Justin Reid after a season-ending injury to Bryan Cook; Drue Tranquill became a regular at linebacker after signing a one-year deal to come over from the AFC West-rival Chargers this past season; Willie Gay Jr. has proven to be their most athletic and versatile linebacker; and defensive linemen Tershawn Wharton, Derrick Nnadi and Mike Danna played important roles.

The Chiefs also have positions to address on offense.

Left tackle Donovan Edwards will be a free agent along with Nick Allegretti, who started in the Super Bowl in place of injured left guard Joe Thuney. Backup running backs Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon, wide receivers Mecole Hardman and Richie James, tight end Blake Bell and backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert also are free agents.
