On April 19, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was notified that William Thomas Frederick had been captured in Red Bluff, California. Frederick was a suspect in an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of April 1 during a pursuit involving Sheriff’s deputies and a Hoisington Police Department officer when he allegedly fired on officers. 

Warrants were issued by the Barton County District Court. Frederick is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Aggravated Assault of Law Enforcement Officer and Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer. The bond on the warrants has been set at $100,000.

William Frederick was an absconder from community corrections at the time of the incident. Frederick had been listed as an absconder on February 27, 2023. It is not known to law enforcement or the public how many violations he had committed prior to being listed as an absconder. The Sheriff’s office will be in contact with California authorities to facilitate extradition. Frederick will be transported back to Barton County as soon as extradition proceedings are complete.

Sheriff Brian Bellendir thanked the United States Marshals Service for tracking and locating Frederick.&nbsp;

No one asks to be a victim. Yet each year, hundreds of unwilling participants are dragged into the justice system through no fault of their own. April 23-29 is National Crime Victims' Week, and Barton County Victim Advocate Camila Komarek spoke before the county commission Wednesday as part of a proclamation recognizing the week.

"National Crime Victims' Rights Week brings us closer to victims of all crimes," she said. "This year, we emphasize our vision of reaching all victims with the theme, 'Survivor Voices: Elevate, engage, effect change,' which calls upon communities to amplify the voices of survivors and create environments where survivors have confidence they will be heard, believed, and supported."

In 2022, the Barton County Attorney's Office filed approximately 459 criminal cases, 1,100 traffic cases, and 75 juvenile offender cases. Komarek assisted 279 victims in those cases. Commissioner Donna Zimmerman spent several decades in the Barton County Courthouse, including 26 years as the county clerk. She praised the county for having a victims' advocate.

"I remember a time before we had a victims advocate upstairs, and I remember how difficult it was for victims to even find information about what was going on in their own hearing," she told Komarek. "So I'm glad you're here."

Komarek made 2,842 contacts with victims last year regarding notification of hearings, follow-up with information on the cases, criminal justice support and advocacy, and assistance with filing claims with the Kansas Crime Victim Compensation Board.

Tellers restaurant celebrates opening with Great Bend Chamber

Swim season and mural season are coming together. Barton Arts Movement announced Monday the first of at least three murals in the county. Great Bend's Anna Popp will add some summer vibes to the city of Claflin pool entrance. Barton Arts Movement Co-Chair Rachel Mawhirter said a few sponsors have already signed on, but a few more are needed.

"We're super excited to be using a local artist," she said. "She's a college student and will already be home for the summer, so that's going to keep this a fairly affordable project, but we do still need a few donors."

BAM will announce at least two more mural projects this summer. Those announcements will now include renderings so potential donors and the public know exactly what to expect.

"It's a lot easier to understand and get excited about something that's conceptualized already and not so abstract," Mawhirter said. "We're kind of reversing the process we started with. When we started, we would come up with a building, then find an artist, then a concept, then try to get donors before we would announce it to the public. Unfortunately, that just made the progress really slow."

Popp is a 2021 graduate of Great Bend High School. She currently attends the University of Kansas, where she is studying visual arts. Last summer, Popp painted a large bison mural in Atwood.

What started in 2012, the Great Bend Airfest will be back for a fifth
time next fall. Well over a year from the next show, Great Bend Municipal
Airport Manager Martin Miller has started reaching out to performers
and a final wish list of talent will go out later this summer. Miller said the
idea of organizing a show of this magnitude is to find something that will
entertain all ages. "Shockwave was a big deal," said Miller. "The Golden Knights were a big deal. The night show was a big deal. I'm watching the shows right now that are going on this season and keeping track of performers that are a little bit different or the same." 
Organized every three years, the 2021 Airfest saw just over 9,000 spectators
attend the three-day event. Great Bend has been able to recruit national
performers in the past, something Miller said is easier because of the setup. "The most consistent thought these performers had last time was they like a show like Great Bend, a smaller show, so much better than the big shows," said Miller. "In the big shows, they'll park the performers a mile away on an apron. The audience doesn't get to see them until it's airshow time. They like interacting with people, so that's an advantage." 
Miller added Great Bend will relook at ticket prices for the 2024 event after
selling tickets for $10 in 2021. The show three years ago cost approximately
$185,000 to put together, while receiving roughly $180,000 in sponsorships and
admission.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Rosewood Miracle Workers AKTION Club completed its annual community blanket drive this month by donating to three Great Bend organizations that serve area children in need. Club representatives donated a total of 231 blankets to Barton County Health Department, Family Crisis Center, and St. Francis Ministries. The blanket drive, which involved community members donating blankets and/or monetary contributions to the cause, was conducted from January through March this year.

This year’s drive was especially bolstered by three organizations coordinating their own efforts to contribute to the community drive. UnitedHealthcare donated approximately 150 blankets; in addition, Robin Rziha, UHC care coordinator, contributed $100 to the purchase of blankets, and that contribution is being matched by her company to go toward even more blankets.&nbsp;Also contributing to the effort, RSVP “Volunteers In Action” donated approximately 20 blankets; and a local quilters group donated handmade quilts to the drive.

“We can’t say enough good things about the involvement we received from United Healthcare and the two community organizations that were so involved this year in our cause,” said Rosewood AKTION Club sponsor Frankie Pelster. “They are such a big reason why our blanket drive was so successful. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. We also give thanks to every community member who came forward to contribute to this important drive. Because of such tremendous goodwill, we were able to provide a lot of much-needed blankets to three worthwhile organizations that serve our community’s children in need.”

This is the second consecutive Rosewood AKTION Club community drive effort that United Healthcare has played such an integral role. Last fall, the business greatly contributed to the club’s Coloring Book and Crayon Drive, which helped result in record amounts raised. UHC teams participate in one volunteer event per quarter, said Amanda Rome, UHC care coordinator.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

“All over the state, we are doing things like this for our communities,” Rome explained. “We are pretty spread out as a group, with each team having 12 or 13 care coordinators and our managers, too, so that equates to a lot of participation throughout the state. For this drive, we received a lot of monetary donations from our teams, which allowed us to then go make the purchases for these blankets.”

“Working with the AKTION Club is nice because the drive benefits the members and it also benefits the community,” added Katie Leikam, UHC care coordinator. “We are so happy to help with this effort.”

For Rosewood AKTION Club members, they appreciate the community support they receive for their annual drive. They especially enjoy drop-off day when they deliver the blankets to the community organizations that serve area children.&nbsp;

“I like that our drive helps the area children in need, and I especially like that we were able to help the newborns with quilt donations at the Barton County Health Department,” said Rosewood AKTION Club member Kurtis Coleman. Added fellow club member Codie Hardie, “It’s helping those people who can’t afford blankets for their children, so I like that a lot about our drive.”

Rosewood AKTION Club is an affiliate of the national Kiwanis organization that promotes service in action for people with developmental disabilities. The area club allows Rosewood members to be actively involved in the community and to positively impact the lives of others.

Club representatives donated a total of 231 blankets to Barton County Health Department, Family Crisis Center, and St. Francis Ministries. The blanket drive, which involved community members donating blankets and/or monetary contributions to the cause, was conducted from January through March this year.This year’s drive was especially bolstered by three organizations coordinating their own efforts to contribute to the community drive. UnitedHealthcare donated approximately 150 blankets; in addition, Robin Rziha, UHC care coordinator, contributed $100 to the purchase of blankets, and that contribution is being matched by her company to go toward even more blankets.&nbsp;Also contributing to the effort, RSVP “Volunteers In Action” donated approximately 20 blankets; and a local quilters group donated handmade quilts to the drive.“We can’t say enough good things about the involvement we received from United Healthcare and the two community organizations that were so involved this year in our cause,” said Rosewood AKTION Club sponsor Frankie Pelster. “They are such a big reason why our blanket drive was so successful. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts. We also give thanks to every community member who came forward to contribute to this important drive. Rosewood delivers 200+ blankets to Great Bend children in need

KIOWA COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 7:30a.m. Wednesday in Kiowa County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Chevy Tahoe driven by Jesse Eugene Hall, 18, Wisconsin, was was westbound on U.S. 54 fourteen miles east of Greensburg.

The driver, in an attempt to avoid a westbound vehicle stopped&nbsp; on the highway, traveled left of center into the eastbound lane. The Chevy and a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Cody William Metz, 19, Washington, Kansas, collided head-on.&nbsp; Both vehicles came to rest on the south shoulder of U.S. 54.

A passenger in the Chevy identified as Jaidyn&nbsp;Barz, 19, Wisconsin, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Regional Forensics Center.&nbsp; 

EMS transported to Hall a Wichita hospital, Metz to the hospital in Pratt and a second passenger in the Chey Jonathan&nbsp;Gajeuski, 19, Wisconsin, to the hospital in Greensburg.&nbsp; 

The driver and the passengers in the Tahoe were properly restrained, according to the KHP.

Each year, employees of this facility provide investigative services to 46 of the most western Kansas counties and laboratory services to more than 70 counties. The KBI expects to receive a $910,000 appropriation to replace an HVAC system and finish a laboratory renovation project.

Great Bend KBI office to receive $910K for HVAC project

Kansas State University veterinarian Gregg Hanzlicek is urging beef cattle producers to review their herd’s vaccination and parasite control program as summer approaches.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He said vaccinations should be given to protect the cows against all the major reproductive infectious diseases before breeding season, including IBR (infectious bovine rhinotracheitis), BVD (bovine viral diarrhea), leptospirosis and campylobacter.&nbsp;&nbsp;

According to Hanzlicek, those vaccinations should be given 45-60 days before the bulls will be released with the cows. “This allows enough time for the cows to respond to the vaccine&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

and enough time for the cow to recover from any minor negative vaccine effects,” he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Use the same vaccine (and) the same vaccine schedule for the bulls. Bulls are too often forgotten in vaccination programs.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

In addition, Hanzlicek recommends insecticidal ear tags to control for flies this summer, saying “tags still provide the best protection against heavy fly infestations.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hanzlicek urges producers to tag cows and bulls. “Two tags per animal are more effective than one,” he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It might also be necessary to tag the calves in times when fly populations are very large, but producers should start with the cows.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hanzlicek said producers should rotate the fly tag’s chemistry to decrease the fly's ability to build resistance to the insecticide.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“If we continue to use products that have the same chemistry/insecticide, we breed for resistance,” he said. “Either a two or three year rotation is ideal, depending on the insecticides used.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

He adds: “It is also important to remember to remove the insecticide ear tags at the end of pasture season and dispose of them properly. Not doing this will build up insecticide resistance in the fly populations, and through time fly programs will become less and less effective.”&nbsp;&nbsp;

Campaigns like Zero Reasons Why are trying to eliminate the stigma of mental illness. Various hotlines are available in the event of suicidal thoughts or a crisis. With Mental Health Awareness Day coming up next month, Tracie Haselhorst, crisis coordinator for the Center for Counseling and Consultation in Great Bend, reminds residents of various ways to seek help in a personal psychiatric emergency, including the 988 Suicide &amp; Crisis Lifeline.

"It's like 9-1-1," she said. "If you need help, there's 9-1-1. Now we have somewhere, 9-8-8. There's also texting so clients can text if they don't feel comfortable talking."

The 988 Lifeline was implemented nationwide in July 2022, and is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support 24/7. 

The Center also has crisis services available 24/7. Staff is available Monday through Friday, but the Center also has services available after hours through its Health Integrated Solutions. After-hours calls to the facility will be rerouted to HIS, which can notify Center staff within hours or the next day.

"If they call 988, we will not get that information because they go by the phone numbers," Haselhorst explained. "If you live in Great Bend and you're a 913 number, they might think you're in Kansas City. If it's a 316 or 785, they go by that. If they call our HIS screening source, if they're assessed for a hospitalization, we get those emails after they're done, so we will know who called in crisis, even if they do a safety plan."

The Center also works to distribute crisis lifeline information, such as 988 fliers, to its community partners, including the Barton County Jail. The goal, Haselhorst said, is to remind everyone that help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

on the High Plains” which will have participants walk across several spots in Central
Kansas. 

Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Christina Hayes was pleased to book the
group in Great Bend May 11-12. "The group of walkers will walk from Lyons, Ellsworth, Great Bend, Larned, Ellinwood, Russell and Wilson," said Hayes. "What's fun about it is the CVB is working with them to find points of interest so it will be like a walking tour as they walk through our town." 
The group of walkers will stay in hotels in Great Bend while being able to
explore the business district, Cheyenne Bottoms and The Wall That Heals
memorial that will be on display at Veterans Park at the time.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Walking Club to stroll through Great Bend this May

The Great Bend City Council has spent a considerable amount of time in
executive session over the last couple of months as the governing body
discusses who to hire as the next city administrator. The council spent 20
minutes Monday night behind closed doors concerning the city administrator position
but had no action following the session. Interim City Administrator Logan Burns
said in his report the process is zeroed in on a candidate. "We're still in the process," said Burns. "We're discussing the final candidate for the administrator position. We hope to have that process wrapped up in the immediate future." 
There were 25 applicants for the city administrator job after it became
available with Kendal Francis’ resignation in early January. Three finalists

executive session over the last couple of months as the governing body
discusses who to hire as the next city administrator. The council spent 20
minutes Monday night behind closed doors concerning the city administrator position
but had no action following the session. Interim City Administrator Logan Burns
said in his report the process is zeroed in on a candidate. "We're still in the process," said Burns. "We're discussing the final candidate for the administrator position. We hope to have that process wrapped up in the immediate future." 
There were 25 applicants for the city administrator job after it became
available with Kendal Francis’ resignation in early January. Three finalists
were selected for extended interviews. Burns said earlier this month Great Bend

Great Bend discussing final candidate for administrator job

Sometimes less is more. Counties can apply for federal funds through the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for road and bridge projects on county roads. Federal monies come in but with plenty of strings attached. That's where the KDOT exchange comes in. County Engineer Barry McManaman presented a request to approve the exchange during Wednesday's Barton County Commission meeting. 

"The full share of federal funds would be $190,617.71," he said. "If we wanted to use that full amount, we'd have to have a project approved and designed using all federal requirements. However, the exchange is the state will give us 90 percent of that amount, and then we would have the freedom to use it without all the federal restrictions and requirements."

The commission approved the exchange, which will give the county $171,555.94. McManaman said even with the lesser amount, the funds could go to more than one project without all the federal requirements. A simple overlay, for example, may require various changes to side slopes, signage, and guardrails if using federal standards.

"We have guardrail, for example, that was put in decades ago," McManaman said. "It doesn't meet current standards. If you were to go out and design a project now, you'd have to have a lot more lead-in distance on the guardrail, safety terminal ends, and things like that. It would be a huge-dollar project for the county to go out and continually upgrade guardrail on all these small structures we have."

Using the state dollars, the county can also avoid the tight September deadline required for a federal project.&nbsp;

Barton Commission approves KDOT exchange of federal funds

On Feb. 14, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a scam and fraudulent check case involving at least one local business. The individual in question wrote checks at businesses, produce proper identification and buy large quantities of merchandise. It would be later discovered the checks and identification were forged.

The Sheriff’s Office detective division immediately began an investigation and after a period of time was able to identify the suspect as Roger Kornegay. Kornegay had been recently released from federal parole. Investigators discovered Kornegay had been using more than 25 aliases. He has a criminal history involving financial crimes.

Kornegay is a resident of Mount Olive, North Carolina. Kornegay is 65 years of age. Detectives had obtained a warrant for his arrest and have been in the process of tracking his location for several weeks.

The Sheriff’s Office received information that Kornegay was in Nebraska, possibly headed to Oberlin, KS. With the assistance of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and the Oberlin Police Department, Kornegay was arrested on a Barton County District Court warrant for forgery and theft. 

Kornegay is currently being held in the Decatur County jail. The Sheriff's Office expects that he will be transported to Barton County today. Kornegay’s being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. This case is ongoing, it is expected that several other jurisdictions will be filing charges.

Radio, television, and the wide world of streaming have made listening to music at any time of the day as simple as pushing a button. Life was not always that way. For nearly 150 years, the Great Bend City Band has provided entertainment at some of the city's biggest events. Longtime Great Bend High School Band Director Joe Boley has compiled the band's history in a new book, "Have Baton Will Travel." 

"There was always a band, it seems like, that was connected with any entertainment that went on around town," Boley said. "They played for soup suppers, parades, political rallies, just any number of occasions. They would even play for the opening of new businesses during the old days."

Boley was the GBHS band director from 1958-94, also serving as the City Band director for a stretch. In 1997, the Kansas State Historical Society reached out to Boley for information about city bands in one of its displays. That piqued his interest, and he spent time digging through old newspaper articles and traveling to locations associated with the band's 28 directors.

"A lot of times, I would purposefully go to a direction or a place where some of these guys come from," Boley said. "I went back into their early history as to where they were before they came to Great Bend, then I followed that up with where they went after they were in Great Bend. Thus the title, "Have Baton Will Travel."

The City Band played at just about everything in the early days, from parades, to political rallies, to birthdays. One time the band played at a wedding just a few blocks from a hanging. 

"The early people that wanted the bands here were newspaper editors and the businessmen," Boley said. "If there was an occasion to have the band show off, they were ready. If there was an excursion train that came through, or they would go on booster trips to advertise the town, the editor was always pushing to have the town band. If someone else could have one in the county, why not Great Bend?"

Boley gave thanks to many who helped with the book, and he attended Monday's Great Bend City Council meeting to thank the body for supporting the band since 1924. 

Copies of the book are available at Heart of Kansas Mercantile/Miss Pretty Pickles located at 1212 Main Street in Great Bend. Boley will also have a book signing there on May 18, and another signing at the Barton County Historical Society on May 22.

The week of April 23 – 29, 2023, has been selected to reaffirm the County’s commitment to respect and enforce victims’ rights and address their needs during Crime Victims’ Rights Week and throughout the year.

&nbsp; &nbsp;B. COMMISSION: Barton County Façade Improvement Grants: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Matt Patzner, County Administrator, will provide details. In 2021, the Commission dedicated $630,000.00 to the Façade Improvement Project. In 2023, the Commission directed $250,00.00 in funding be reserved for the program. Thus far in 2023, the Commission has awarded $71,213.66 in funding to priority projects and $231,374.36 in current funding. The Commission will consider award of funding for a portion of the projects in later items.

&nbsp; &nbsp;C. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: INA Alert, Inc: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Nick Strecker will provide details. INA Alert, Inc has requested $16,155.75 in grant funding to improve the building located at 108 W Santa Fe, Ellinwood, Kansas. The $5,385.25 match by the applicant equates to 25% of the project.

&nbsp; &nbsp;D. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: National Billing, LLC: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Mel Waite will provide details. National Billing, LLC has requested $20,000.00 in grant funding to improve the building located at 105 N Main, Ellinwood, Kansas. The building houses Astra Business Solutions LLC and the Ellinwood Leader. The $15,113.01 match by the applicant equates to 43% of the project.

&nbsp; &nbsp;E. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: Ehler Chevrolet LLC: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Micah Ehler will provide details. Ehler Chevrolet LLC has requested $20,000.00 in grant funding to improve the building located at 271 S Main, Hoisington, Kansas. The $24,230.00 match by the applicant equates to 55% of the project.

&nbsp; &nbsp;F. COUNTY ENGINEER: Kansas Department of Transportation Federal Funds Exchange: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Barry McManaman, County Engineer, will provide details. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has offered to exchange the County’s annual federal fund distribution for state funds at an exchange rate of ninety percent. The County has the option of using the full share of federal funds in the amount of $190,617.71 on a project designed with all federal requirements and restrictions. If the exchange is accepted, the County would have the freedom to use the money on road and bridge work without following federal requirements. There is $171,555.94 available for reimbursement if the exchange offer is accepted.

&nbsp; &nbsp;G. ROAD AND BRIDGE: Final Cost - FleetPride: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Darren Williams, County Works Director, will present details. On April 20, 2022, the Commission authorized the purchase of two Bibeau beds and advanced hydraulic packages from FleetPride, Wichita, for a total cost of $102,511.06. With delivery imminent, the price has increased to a total cost of $115,755.68. Mr. Williams will ask that the Commission approve the updated cost.

&nbsp; &nbsp;H. EXECUTIVE SESSION: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Chairman Shawn Hutchinson will present. Any Commissioner may make a motion for the board to recess to executive session at this time as allowed by K.S.A. 75-4319. Any motion must contain the justification for the executive session, the subject matter to be discussed, any individuals in addition to the board who will attend the executive session and the time at which the regular session shall resume.

The week of April 23 – 29, 2023, has been selected to reaffirm the County’s commitment to respect and enforce victims’ rights and address their needs during Crime Victims’ Rights Week and throughout the year.&nbsp; &nbsp;B. COMMISSION: Barton County Façade Improvement Grants: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Matt Patzner, County Administrator, will provide details. In 2021, the Commission dedicated $630,000.00 to the Façade Improvement Project. In 2023, the Commission directed $250,00.00 in funding be reserved for the program. Thus far in 2023, the Commission has awarded $71,213.66 in funding to priority projects and $231,374.36 in current funding. The Commission will consider award of funding for a portion of the projects in later items.&nbsp; &nbsp;C. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: INA Alert, Inc: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Nick Strecker will provide details. INA Alert, Inc has requested $16,155.75 in grant funding to improve the building located at 108 W Santa Fe, Ellinwood, Kansas. The $5,385.25 match by the applicant equates to 25% of the project.&nbsp; &nbsp;D. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: National Billing, LLC: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Mel Waite will provide details. National Billing, LLC has requested $20,000.00 in grant funding to improve the building located at 105 N Main, Ellinwood, Kansas. The building houses Astra Business Solutions LLC and the Ellinwood Leader. The $15,113.01 match by the applicant equates to 43% of the project.&nbsp; &nbsp;E. FAÇADE IMPROVEMENT GRANT: Ehler Chevrolet LLC: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Micah Ehler will provide details. Ehler Chevrolet LLC has requested $20,000.00 in grant funding to improve the building located at 271 S Main, Hoisington, Kansas. The $24,230.00 match by the applicant equates to 55% of the project.&nbsp; &nbsp;F. COUNTY ENGINEER: Kansas Department of Transportation Federal Funds Exchange: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Barry McManaman, County Engineer, will provide details. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has offered to exchange the County’s annual federal fund distribution for state funds at an exchange rate of ninety percent. The County has the option of using the full share of federal funds in the amount of $190,617.71 on a project designed with all federal requirements and restrictions. If the exchange is accepted, the County would have the freedom to use the money on road and bridge work without following federal requirements. There is $171,555.94 available for reimbursement if the exchange offer is accepted.&nbsp; &nbsp;G. ROAD AND BRIDGE: Final Cost - FleetPride: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Darren Williams, County Works Director, will present details. On April 20, 2022, the Commission authorized the purchase of two Bibeau beds and advanced hydraulic packages from FleetPride, Wichita, for a total cost of $102,511.06. With delivery imminent, the price has increased to a total cost of $115,755.68. Mr. Williams will ask that the Commission approve the updated cost.&nbsp; &nbsp;H. EXECUTIVE SESSION: &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Chairman Shawn Hutchinson will present. Any Commissioner may make a motion for the board to recess to executive session at this time as allowed by K.S.A. 75-4319. Any motion must contain the justification for the executive session, the subject matter to be discussed, any individuals in addition to the board who will attend the executive session and the time at which the regular session shall resume.IV.
