Buildings and other locations across Kansas will be lit up in orange lights to help raise awareness of work zone safety for the week of April 17-21.

Numerous KDOT buildings across the state will be lit in orange in honor of National Work Zone Awareness Week as well as -

  1. Governor’s Mansion in Topeka
  2. Visitors Center in the Capitol
  3. Front of the Topeka City Hall building
  4. Evergy Plaza in Topeka
  5. Downtown Kansas Avenue lights in Topeka
  6. Bridge at I-35/119th Street in Olathe
  7. City of Neodesha fountain
  8. Bridges at U.S. 54/Webb Road junction and U.S. 54/Greenwich Road in Wichita
  9. Travel Information Center on I-70 near Goodland
  10. Kansas Turnpike Authority buildings in Topeka and Wichita

People are encouraged to wear something orange all week, but especially on Go Orange Day in Kansas on Wednesday, April 19, to show support and appreciation for highway workers and their efforts.

A video blog will be shown each day, where highway workers across the state will share stories, experiences and close calls. They also will highlight work zone safety improvements made the past several years. Check out the blogs HERE and other information on the KDOT Go Orange webpage HERE.

The Go Orange effort is part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, a national safety campaign that KDOT and numerous partner organizations participate in every year. The campaign highlights the dangers faced by highway workers and motorists in work zones and promotes safer behaviors.
