Just after 11:30a.m. on October 28, 2020, police responded to an injury accident in the 1000 block of North Tyler Road in Wichita, according to Officer Kevin Wheeler. They found 14-year-old Aryana Lay trapped in a Pontiac G6. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned the teen's father Jensen Lay was driving the Pontiac southbound on Tyler Road at a high rate of speed, according to Wheeler. He lost control of the car. It spun into two northbound Ford F150 pickups. The other two drivers were not seriously injured.
