The Barton Community College wrestling squad received a good learning experience this past weekend at the UNK Younes Hospitality Open in Kearney, Nebraska.

Competing in another stout field against top-tier Division II and NAIA teams, the Cougar three pack was unable to find the win column.

Barton will take the holiday week off before returning to the mats Sunday December 5th at the Jet Open held in Wichita, KS.

Making his season debut, Ayston Perez narrowly picked up victories in his pair of matches dropping a 4-1 decision to Terry Winstead of Chadron State and 3-1 decision to Northwest Kansas Technical College's Marlin Miles.

Dawson Chavez was bounced to the consolation side in his opening bout dropping a 10-1 major decision to Kyle Boeke of Augustana. Receiving a bye in the backside, Chavez nearly kept his day alive falling on the short side in a 4-2 decision to Gavin Patterson of Western Wyoming College.

Jonah Clarke suffered falls in both his bouts to Adam Schulz of Otero and Aiden Warren of Air Force Prep.
