WABAUNSEE COUNTY —Two sheriff’s deputies are out of the hospital and recovering after a suspected fentanyl exposure during a custodial arrest made Monday morning, according to a social media report from the Wabaunsee County sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office reported, "we use all precautions roadside. It's almost impossible to defend against a bag of unknown substance intentionally thrown into the wind in vicinity of emergency service personnel."
"Fentanyl and opioids are indiscriminate killers. This is the reality of modern law enforcement." The sheriff's office also sent a big thank you to the "wonderful ER Staff at Wamego Hospital."
