Bombers Baseball is pleased to announce that their 14u will get to showcase their talents in a 7 inning game prior to the Great Bend Bat Cats on Saturday, June 12th. Both will be hosting teams from Newton with the Bombers first pitch schedule for 4:00 p.m. and the Bat Cats game immediately following at Al Burns Field Veterans Park and games are free admission.

The Bombers team is excited to play in front of the Great Bend Community and a different group of fans. Over the past few months, the team has played in various top level tournaments around the state and is currently 25-8 on the season.

Bombers 14u will have several tournaments remaining on the year including trips to a major tournament in Oklahoma, as well as both the Perfect Game and Hap Dumont State Tournaments and the season finale Greater Midwest World Series in the middle of July. The team is made up of 8 players from Great Bend, and 1 each from Ellinwood, Hoisington, and Lyons.

“Playing in front of family and friends is always special at our games, but the boys are really excited to play in front of the community and the older collegiate Bat Cat players,” says Coach Chris Umphres. “The boys will get to have batting practice on the field prior just like the college and pro players. It will be one of those games that they remember primarily because of the atmosphere of Al Burns, and hopefully, there will be a huge crowd and we can make this a Bombers/Bat Cat tradition.”

Bombers Baseball is a Great Bend based non-profit youth baseball organization that started 7 years ago. Currently there are over 100 players competing on 9 Bomber teams ranging from 7 and under to Umphres 14u team.
