Man hospitalized after accidental shooting at Kan. mall

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A man is hospitalized in serious condition after accidentally shooting himself Saturday in Wichita.

Just before 5p.m., police responded to an accidental shooting at Towne East Mall, 7700 E. Kellogg, in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

The investigation revealed a 28-year-old man was inside the mall and carrying a handgun inside the waistband of his pants.

The gun accidentally fired, striking him in the leg.  Two off-duty nurses nearby and arriving officers quickly provided medical treatment to the man. An ambulance transported him to an area hospital for treatment of a serious injury, according to Davidson. There were no other injuries.
