Security camera shows theft of $75K statue from Kan. youth baseball facility

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating the theft of a Jackie Robinson statue in Wichita released security camera video of the crime. It shows the vandals cut the League 42 statue off just above Jackie Robinson's feet, load it into a truck and take it away.

According to the city, the crime occurred around midnight Wednesday, at the Jackie Robinson Pavilion in McAdams Park,  1329 E 16th Street N, Interstate 135 and 13th Street area.

League 42, named in honor of the great Jackie Robinson, the first African-American in Major League Baseball, is a youth baseball league comprised primarily of urban children ages 5 – 14 in the Wichita area, according to the organization's web site.
