The Great Bend Bat Cats may not be headed to the NBC World Series but they showed Thursday night a grit and fight that Manager Roger Ward will remember a long time. The Bat Cats rallied from a 5-0 deficit Thursday in Liberal to beat the Bee Jays 7-6 in the final game of the 2020 summer season.
Alex Rogers singled home the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning, then reliever Adrian Talavera closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the come from behind win.
Talavera picked up the win, going 5-innings in relief of starter Zach Curry. Collin Meinert and Seth Kenagy both drove in two runs as the Bat Cats end the season with a record of 19-20.
