Barton Women

The Barton Community College women's cross country team competed Saturday morning in the FHSU Tiger Open held at Victoria's Sand Plum Nature Trail.

A trio of Cougars were among 136 entries in the Black 5K race, being led by Kayan Green's 19th placing. The second year cross country athlete competed in the distance for just the second time however, bettering her freshman time by 29 seconds with a 19:37.8 crossing.

Karina Herrera continues to have a strong freshman campaign, taking 48 seconds off her previous 5K best in placing 40th overall at 20:33.5.

Rounding out the three-pack of Cougars was Dixee Lacen in 104th place, battling through slight injuries in posting a 23:42.1.

The Cougars will have three weeks in preparation for the Region VI Championships taking place October 30 in Colby, Kansas.

Barton Men

All four runners of the Barton Community College men's cross country team clocked personal bests Saturday morning competing in the FHSU Tiger Open held at Victoria's Sand Plum Nature Trail.

Tyrese Reid placed 53rd overall in the 196 entrant Black 8K entry race, clocking a 27:12.9 time in shaving twelve seconds of his career best time set last year and two minutes faster than his season top time.

Taking over a minute off his personal fastest time, Djordje Racic crossed in 29:03.03.5 to place 120th overall.

Ethan Woodrome crossed next for the Cougars, finishing in the 143rd slot twenty-nine seconds faster than his previous best in timing a 29:46.4, while Trent Padilla shaved 93 seconds off his best for a 30:04.9 clocking to place 152nd.

The Cougars will have three weeks in preparation for the Region VI Championships taking place October 30 in Colby, Kansas.
