Great Bend Post Sports
Most of the 43 teams running in Saturday's Crimson race at Rim Rock Farm just outside of Lawrence had some spare runners. Great Bend, with just five athletes in the mix, scored 711 points to finish 28th overall. Class 3A contender Holcomb won the race with 115 points, followed by Wamego with 169 points. Dodge City edged Buhler 274-276 for third.
Buhler junior Brody Deniston cruised to the individual win in 15:58.8, followed by Topeka West senior Adrian Lehman in 16:12.2. McPherson junior Caleb Muehler finished third in 16:14.0.
Less than 12 hours after being named Homecoming King Friday night at the Panther football game, senior Diego Pasos led Great Bend in 125th in 18:36.6. Freshman Isaac Aldana made his Rim Rock debut in 131st with a time of 18:40.5. Sophomore Anthony Lawrence placed 148th in 18:51.6, followed by freshman Brogan Lashley in 151st in 18:52.3. Sophomore Parker Coleman ran 185th in 19:20.0.
Kansas also dominated the Gold race with eight of the top 10 runners. Mill Valley senior Carter Cline won by 12 seconds in 15:24.1. Three Class 5A schools led the team competition with Spring Hill taking the win by 32 spots with 88 points.
