The Barton Community College men's basketball team landed three sophomores to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) team following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season. Announced by the league office, Mavrick Gildyard earned first team honors with Diovonte Caldwell landing on the second team while Martin Vogts picked up honorable mention distinction.
The trio helped Barton to a second place finish in the Jayhawk West at 14-7, having the post-season run end in the Region VI Quarterfinals completing the season at 23-9.
MAVERICK GILDYARD – 1st-team All-Jayhawk West
Gildyard did a little bit of everything for the Cougars, averaging a team third best 11.5 points per game on 50.8% shooting from the field (128-of-252) and a solid 70.7% from the free throw line (70-of-99). The 6'6" forward averaged a team second best 5.7 rebounds and third most minutes at 23.4 per contest.
Gildyard hauled down ten or more rebounds in six of the Cougars' games, posting a team high three double-doubles.
Helping the Cougars advance in the region playoffs with a first round career high twenty-five points, Gildyard wrapped up his career just missing his fourth double-double with a 17 point, 9 rebound performance to earn All-Region VI Tournament honors, as well as, the season's final conference weekly honor.
DIOVONTE CALDWELL – 2nd team All-Jayhawk West
The 6'0" sophomore guard was Barton's sixth leading scorer at 9.5 points per game, dishing out a second best 2.6 assists per game ranking 16th among the conference leaders.
Dialing in down the stretch for 11.8 points per game in the final nine contests of the season, Caldwell posted double digits in six of those games including a season high 18 points against Pratt.
Caldwell was also pivotal for the team on the defensive end with a second best 1.7 steals per contest.
MARTIN VOGTS – Honorable Mention All-Jayhawk West
Led Barton from beyond the arc with 1.7 trifectas per game on 37.4% shooting connecting on 55 of his 147 long range shots. The 6'1" guard also shot 42% total from the field (113-of-269) with a 74.4% from the charity stripe (58-of-78).
Vogts scored in double figures twenty-one times during the season, posting a career high 24 points along the way and averaging 13 points in his final five games in a Cougar uniform.
