Ambulance driver crashes on slushy Kansas highway

EL DORADO —An ambulance crashed on a slushy  stretch of Interstate 35 near El Dorado Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the ambulance driver identified as Lacy Anette Volz, 37, Wichita, lost control around 10:30 a.m. as the area was under a winter weather advisory.

She then overcorrected and struck the barrier wall and the guard rail.

A personal vehicle transported Volz to a hospital with a suspected minor injury.

No mention was made in the report of a patient in the ambulance.

A 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Nicole Dawn Huttegger, 30, DeSoto, Mo. also was involved in the crash. She was not injured.
