Noah Geekie of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the season's initial KJCCC Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Geekie pitched a near perfect five innings this past Sunday at Carl Albert State College, exiting the game allowing zero hits while striking out seven and walking two. Normally the Cougars' regular left fielder, the starting role was just the second of the sophomore's career.

Barton's next games come this weekend in Midwest City, Oklahoma, against Rose State College. The trio of games gets started with a nine inning 3:00 p.m. first pitch on Friday followed by a Saturday 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.

Barton will then have a Tuesday, February 18, road trip to Hesston College for a one-game nine inning affair before the Cougars' home opener February 22 against Western Nebraska Community College.

Predicted to place third in the Jayhawk West standings, the Cougars begin conference play March 5 at top vote getter Hutchinson Community College.
