MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Kysre Gondrezick scored a career-high 24 points and dished eight assists in helping the No. 19 West Virginia women beat Kansas State 74-63 in a Big 12 opener. Gondrezick was 9-of-14 shooting, making half of her eight 3-point attempts. Tynice Martin added 18 points and Madisen Smith, with three makes from the arc, scoring 15. Peyton Williams, who has been averaging a double-double, had another with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats. West Virginia had the lead for good midway through the first quarter and led 37-22 at halftime.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — There is a parity party in college basketball this season unlike perhaps any other year. Five different teams rose to No. 1 before New Year's Day, a record for the AP poll that began with the 1948-49 season. This past week brought losses to No. 4 Oregon, ninth-ranked Memphis and No. 10 Villanova — all to unranked teams. There are a multitude of reasons, ranging from more talent spread more evenly across college basketball to rule changes that include a deeper 3-point line. But regardless of the circumstances, one thing has become clear: Not even the bluest of the blue bloods is safe this season.

National Headlines

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Russell Wilson threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf and Marshawn Lynch had a rushing score as the Seattle Seahawks beat the Eagles, 17-9 in Philadelphia. Wilson threw for 325 yards and led the team with 45 yards rushing. The Seahawks had a season-high seven sacks from six players, but the biggest hit was provided by Jadeveon Clowney. He knocked out quarterback Carson Wentz with a helmet-to-helmet hit in Philadelphia’s second series.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) —The Minnesota Vikings blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter before Kirk Cousins hit tight end Kyle Rudolph for a four-yard touchdown on the first possession of overtime to give the Vikes a 26-20 victory against the New Orleans Saints. Dalvin Cook gained 130 yards from scrimmage and scored a pair of touchdowns that put the Vikings ahead, 20-10. Will Lutz forced OT by nailing a 49-yard field goal with two seconds remaining in regulation.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Cassius Winston scored a career-high 32 points and 14th-ranked Michigan State improved to 12-3 overall with its seventh straight win, 87-69 over No. 12 Michigan. Xavier Tillman fell one point short of his career high with 20 to help Michigan State remain the only Big Ten team without a conference loss. The Spartans were ahead the entire game and led by 13 in the first half before keeping the Wolverines in check.

UNDATED (AP) — The Cleveland Browns took a break in their coaching search today but are scheduled to meet with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll today or tomorrow according to a person familiar with the meeting. Daboll was Cleveland's offensive coordinator under Eric Mangini in 2009-10. He was initially scheduled to meet with the Browns today. Cleveland is also expected to meet with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels in the coming days.
