Kan. burglary suspect caught, stolen property recovered

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have a suspect in custody.


On Saturday, the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office received information on the possible location of stolen items from a previous aggravated burglary, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer.


Sheriff Hill, who was at the Law Enforcement Center, along with a detective, followed up on leads that lead to a search warrant being served at a residence in the 800 block of SE Rice Road.


Authorities seized methamphetamine, stolen property from the aggravated burglary, a stolen assault rifle, and a handgun. They also arrested Shawn K. Morris, 48, of Topeka, on requested charges that include Criminal Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Stolen Property.
