LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — David McCormack scored 16 points, Ochai Agbaji added 14 and No. 4 Kansas turned a big second half into a trip to the Maui Invitational title game with a 71-56 victory over Brigham Young. The Jayhawks dominated inside against the smaller Cougars and did a good job of rotating out to their shooters to earn a shot at their third Maui Invitational championship.


Erik Stevenson had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals and Wichita State led wire-to-wire in a 70-47 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday night to advance to the title game of the Cancun Challenge. Wichita State is hoping to win the tournament like it did in 2012 on its way to the Final Four. The Shockers are 6-0 for the first time since its historic 35-0 start to the 2013-14 season.


CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Miles McBride came off the bench to score 18 points and hand out five assists and West Virginia overcame a 15-point second-half deficit to beat Northern Iowa 60-55 in the Cancun Challenge. The Mountaineers (5-0) trailed 42-27 after Northern Iowa’s Isaiah Brown buried a 3-pointer with 10:31 remaining in the second half.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Austin Reaves had 19 points and 10 rebounds, Brady Manek contributed 17 points and Oklahoma hold off Missouri 77-66 in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Classic. Kristian Doolittle scored 14 points and Alondes Williams added 12 as the Sooners led wire-to-wire.


LAS VEGAS (AP) — Desmond Bane had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead TCU to a 64-47 victory over Wyoming in the consolation game of the MGM Resorts Main Event night. It was Bane's second double-double of the season, both in Main Event, and third of his career. The preseason all-Big 12 selection shot 8 of 14 from the field, including four made from 3-point range.


AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State can achieve another milestone in the Matt Campbell era on Saturday. The Cyclones visit longtime nemesis Kansas State with a chance to win eight regular-season games for the second straight year. That is something that has been done only once in school history and that was more than 40 years ago. It won’t be easy. Over the last 12 years, Iowa State has only one victory over Kansas State.


UNDATED (AP) — No. 7 Oklahoma is already locked into a chance to win its fifth consecutive Big 12 title. The Sooners need to finish the regular season with a win in their Bedlam rivalry game at No. 21 Oklahoma State if they are going to have any chance to get back in the College Football Playoff. Iowa State and Kansas State both carry seven wins into their “Farmageddon” rivalry game.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The NCAA has rejected an appeal by the University of Missouri to limit or overturn sanctions for infractions tied to the case of a former tutor. That means postseason bans along with recruiting and scholarship reductions will remain in place for football, baseball and softball. The Tigers’ basketball programs were not involved in the case. The school says it is appalled by the decision.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have changed hands from David Glass to an ownership group led by John Sherman and that includes actor Eric Stonestreet and a several local businessmen. The purchase of the Royals for approximately $1 billion was approved unanimously by the owners of the other big league clubs at their meeting last Thursday.

UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State jumped LSU to No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings with two weeks to go before selection Sunday. LSU slipped to two and Clemson remained No. 3 while Georgia held on at four. If playoff history holds form, three of those top four teams will reach the semifinals. Alabama remained No. 5 with Utah moving up a spot to No. 6. The Utes are the only Pac-12 team in the top 10 after Oregon dropped eight spots to 14th. Oklahoma is seventh followed by Minnesota, Baylor and Penn State.


DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Nathan Bain stole the ball and hit a layup at the overtime buzzer and Stephen F. Austin knocked off No. 1 Duke 85-83 Tuesday night. Kevon Harris scored 26 points and Gavin Kensmil added 15 for the Lumberjacks (5-1). They became the first non-Atlantic Coast Conference team to beat Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in nearly 20 years and the second unranked team to upset a No. 1-ranked team on its home floor in two weeks after Evansville went into Rupp Arena and stunned Kentucky 67-64.


DALLAS (AP) — Paul George scored 17 of his 26 points in the first quarter, Kawhi Leonard finished with 28 and the Los Angeles Clippers took control early in a meeting of teams with matching five-game winning streaks, beating the Dallas Mavericks 114-99. The Clippers used several defenders to end Luka Doncic’s franchise-record streak of four games with at least 30 points and 10 assists while holding the Mavericks under 100 points for the first time this season.


MONTREAL (AP) — David Pastrnak recorded his second hat trick of the season and the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins routed the Montreal Canadiens 8-1. Jake Debrusk, Brad Marchand, Anders Bjork, Charlie Coyle and Danon Heinen also scored for the Bruins, who have won four straight.


PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two-time Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Brooks said pressure of trying to live up to a new contract led to an anxiety attack that forced him out of the Philadelphia Eagles’ game last Sunday. Brooks has dealt with anxiety for several years but has started 50 straight games, including the playoffs. But he recently signed a four-year, $54.2 million contract and it weighed on his mind.
